Extended wheel arch problems

Featured Replies

Without trying not to sound like a smarta**e, those pics show a lack of keying, plastic "shine" not removed by the primer, and way too much adhesive in the wrong places. Also the adhesive appears to be too thickly applied.

The instructions specifically tell you to clamp the plastic parts tightly together whilst the adhesive cures. Temperature and humidy are important too. There needs to be a thin film of adhesive evenly distributed fof it to be effective.

It really is amazing that dealers can't do this sort of thing properly - I even worry about oil/filter changes done for warranty/service reasons in my local Skoda dealer :whew:

Graham, I did say further up in this thread that I had posted the individual part numbers some time ago - under black trim??

Jerry,

Agreed about the "keying", and yes saw the part numbers.

I shall be in touch with Sinclairs before my next service, as there a few other bits I need, like one of the rear bumper reflectors.

Jeep,

I have used badge and trim double sided fixer from halfords for all sorts of stuff like this. It's black, about 10mm wide and about 1mm thick and slightly spongy.

Stick like the proverbial to a blanket.

I've not got the packaging but think this... http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_750231_langId_-1_categoryId_255230 ....is it.

Hi, yes the only concern I have with the double sided approach is that the wheel arch trims have a narrow lip of about 2mm high that retains the adhesive and that is not going to help with contact pressure on the tape edge, I'd agree on a flat surface that something like that would do the job.

Couldn't see that from the pics.

Oh we'll, worth a punt.

Lets hope you get it sorted soon.

I agree with graham, keying is the key.

Just thought I'd let you all know that my arch problem has finally been resolved with Skoda UK footing the bill for removal and full repaint.

Collected 'Letti' this evening and for the first time saw my own car with her kit off. I have to admit I was dubious but her curves look every bit as good as the others gracing these pages!

The paint blend and finish is first rate and I'm chuffed to have the issues resolved! Contemplating the stone guard film fitments before any chips occur. easy fit?

I'm taking her to France on Saturday so will post some pics then.

Hi Foxyfour4

Yes VERY easy! Check out the Yeti Technical Guides (LINK) and the posting titled "Yeti - Rear Door Protective Foils" (LINK

You will find all sorts of amazing information in the Technical Guides section on how to do various things to a Yeti.........................Hope some of this helps

Safe journey to France.......................Tony

Cheers Great Yeti, might have a go before departure!

Seen a Yeti in the dealers that had the extensions ripped off by accidental damage and the front wing looked

unmarked apart from the paint being ripped off behind the extensions . Seems like they can save some minor

damage from happening but high potential for needing a costly re -spray job which put me off the idea completely.

A bit like having body colour door/bumper  protectors fitted.
