Noisy, rough engine but achieve some amazing MPG if driven well. Sounds like a good buy, these engines can handle high miles fine.

Nice car, the only thing I don't like is the drum brakes on the back.

Looks nice and neat as it sits now.

Has it had a respray?

That is a total bargain and at 108,000 miles is just nicely run in! TDi engines thrive on high miles and at over 20 k miles per year, your mum's car must have done a lot of it's miles cruising on motorways and A roads in the engine's sweet spot, so is likely to be in fine health. Check to see when the cam belt was last changed - if it's only had one replacement belt so far (should have happened at between 40 and 60 k) then it should really have another one fitted, plus a new water pump, tensioners and auxiliary belt. Oil changes every 8 to 10 k and it will run and run. I have a 1.9 TDi PD and absolutely love it.

Well her current car is a octavia 1.9tdi with 275000 miles on the clock runs as sweet as a nut still though lol, sounds smoother than my vrs with only 70000 miles on it. My dad used to be a mechanic at simpsons of colne skoda so the new car has had a good look over

My mums car is a 59 plate with 157k on it,i know of a few cars from the same batch and some are upwards of 200k!! Most needed new clutches at around 130-150. When we got this the biting point felt high so i changed it knowing it would probably need doing soon as about 5 other cars had failed. We will have had it two years in September and touch wood only servicing has been needed although the n/s electric window has just stopped working and its due a cambelt.
