I also think you get the random and repear option, but only on that Album.

I have a 32gb SD card anyway, but downloaded a couple of albums from itunes this week, and they are not on it yet.

With Bluetooth you can't control what tracks are being played. You need to select the tracks via the phone.

With the ami/mdi matsumi iphone connection you can select the track/album via the Columbus/head unit and through the maxi dot. You can also watch videos that are on the iphone on the Columbus.

For video to work via the ami you need the red collar mdi lead 000051446M

Iphone 5 does not support video through the lightning connector.

Skoda part numbers. For mdi connecting cable

5E0 051 510 – iPod/iPhone

5E0 051 510A – micro USB

5E0 051 510B – mini USB

5E0 051 510C – iPod (video)

5E0 051 510D – jack 3,5 mm

Right I'm confused now, two people saying different things??

Not iPhone but with my Samsung galaxy s3 connected by bluetooth I can change tracks on the stereo (bolero) but changing album has to be on the phone.

What the Bluetooth+ signal box option voice control refers to is AVRCP (audio video remote control profile) so you can control your iPhone/iPod touch via voice commands using the 9W7 bluetooth system.

So if you've ordered the Bluetooth+ option the voice control allows you to use voice commands to control the music streaming from your phone.

First solid bit of info we've had on that, nice one. How did you find out?

Learnt a fair bit from retro fitting Bluetooth to my FL Vrs then I swapped the unit for another model to get more features. Vw site is also good for information.

Both iphone 5 and samsung gs3 support;

Transfer of internal phonebook to vehicle

Transfer of call history to vehicle

Bluetooth streaming audio (A2DP)

Media player control (AVRCP)

Transfer of phone name to vehicle

Transfer of carrier name to vehicle

Transfer of signal strength to vehicle

Transfer of metadata to vehicle (AVRCP 1.3+)

I did enquire about retrofitting the Mitsumi, and I will receive a price shortly; however whilst I was at the dealers having the rear light cluster re-fitted as it had become loose; I found somebody placed a new Mitsumi cable in the glove box and the service guy said to me you may want to remove the panel under the multimedia unit and have a play??? I will be investigating at the weekend.

Hi did you have any luck with this?

Yes, I'd be interested to know the outcome of this as I think the USB + Aux is a step back from the old MDI (Mitsumi) interface.

Me too. I've for Misumi on order. Anyone know any length the cable is?

Hi, I have one and its 27cm long.

Hope this helps.

So does anyone know if the mitsumi interface is just a cable connected to the back of the Amundsen. Can the cable be purchased afterwards and can it be fitted yourself rather than by a dealer??

Hi, the cable does not plug into the back of the Amundsen, it plugs into the Mitsumi port on the lower front of your centre consol, that is providing that you have ordered it - retro fit maybe possible? It replaces the USB/Aux in port which is a standard fit. The cable can be purchased from the dealer and is simply fitted yourself. I have an Octy 3 on order and have ticked the Mitsumi option (£100!) I have the cable ready and waiting.

By the way looking at your location - I was born and bred in Gloucester (Tuffley) - lovely part of the world.

Regards

Richie

Ahhhh ok. I understand how it connects now. Thought it was a separate connection. Retro fitting might be a bit tricky then.

I actually live in Tuffley (small world huh).

There is a post elsewhere in the Octy 3 forum where a member states that, on picking his new car up, the dealer had left a mitsumi lead in the glovebox and said, to take a look behind the the panel below the head unit.

This infers to me that, it is entirely reasonable to believe that you can connect your own mitsumi lead to the head unit and feed it down behind the centre console to the little covered tray at the bottom.

If I can find the post I will paste a link.

It was actually on the previous page in this thread lol

I can confirm that you can listen to your music via BT with good clarity, only issue is that you have limited control via the car; most has to be done via the phone

The normal USB socket charges the phone no problem

Voice control of the phone and contacts works OK for a voice activated system ;)

The mitsumi is basically what used to be called MDI. I still have the iPhone to Mitsumi lead that came with my old car. What we need to know is if the mitsumi (MDI) port can be retrofitted to cars with just the usb and aux ports. I hope so!

I'm going to buy an octy 3 elegance in the next week or so.

I've already asked for the Bluetooth + but wanted to know has anyone used the car with their iPhone yet, what exactly can you do, and not do with it.

Do you need Bluetooth + to use voice controls

Do you need the mitsumi connection to be able to skip tracks etc on the radio from songs on your iPhone or will that work with the Bluetooth.

Do you see album art over Bluetooth / USB / or only on mitsumi etc

I've just taken delivery of my 1.6TDi Elegance and realise I've misunderstood the full requirement to be able to use iphone/ipod with your Admundsen.

I had thought the cable was just a cable to be used with the USB + AUX port but in fact you need to order the MMI replacement socket and Mitsumi cable to get full functionality.

An iPhone or iPod will not work just through the USB port at all, only the iphone will Bluetooth stream to the Admundsen unit. If you want cover art or the ability to select tracks from the car controls you need the MMI/Mitsumi cable Option. I'll be off to the dealer this week to see if I can get one retrofitted!

None of this affects handsfree Bluetooth phone functionality

Does anyone have any info on what the ami connector does/doesnt add and what adaptors are availible with Admunson (we have iPhone 5s but an old iPod with a 30 pin connector).

When I test drove the vRS I was able to change tracks with the bluetooth connection on the iPhone, however I assumed the usb would allow me to connect an iPod - I take it it just works with exHDDs etc?

I've just spoken to my dealer and he reckons I'll be able to add AMI if I need to.

I had read you could play video - I was hoping I'd be able to play video in the car off the iphone.

<update> looking on youtube it they say at the end of the following clip you can play music off your mp3 player with the usb, no mention of ami.

However the following clip seems to suggest you need bluetooth+ to control your phone with voice control

Getting very confused.

Just to be clear, it's not AMI that you can spec in these cars - it's Mitsumi, which used to be called MDI. I'm sure we'll be able to retrofit it somehow... It might be a while before a kit will be available I reckon.

I'm just resigned to the fact that I'm not gonna know what I can and can't do with the iPhone until I get the car.
