So another small update, The EGR Pipe sealed correctly, however upon starting (only on a stone cold engine) the EML comes back on!

Once it was EGR Flow too high (so i did another adaptation but when the engine temp was between 10-50 degC), all the other times are O2 S1B1 heater circuit. I am having difficulty with the connector, it was ok then it flagged up as an intermittent fault, I disconnected the connector, cleaned it up with some electrical cleaner, however I have difficulty reconnecting it.

The Rubber seal makes it difficult to reconnect. So for now i put the car in the garage and tomorrow, if it hasnt stopped raining, i may just get under the car in the garage and try again.

but in the mean time heres some more photos!

Clean the Intake/throttle body - DONE

Drain the oil, drop the sump and fix the oil leak. Then fit a new Oil Filter & New Oil - DONE

Drain the coolant and clean the header tank - DONE

Replace the lower Engine mount bush. - DONE

Clear the Headlights, a bit of wet n dry etc to clean them up. - DONE

Replace O/S Fog light cluster. - DONE

Replace N/S Bulb. - DONE

Replace the Brake servo vacuum lines. - DONE

Clear the fault codes and take for a test drive, then check again. - Inprogress

Possibly Swap the radio - DONE

So Using the official Skoda Service/Repair manual for my engine (regarding the Fuel injection system) I set about fault finding the injection system. I found that the front O2 sensor connector was being tempermental and would not seat correctly. I was almost tempted to cut the plugs and solder them. But! i knew that would not be sensible of me if it turned out the sensor was duff.

 

After some persuasion, I got it seated correctly. Started it up and the EML came back on. After going through VCDS i found all of the readings were correct and the O2 sensor appeared to be working correctly. I wasnt sure how to reset the ECU with VCDS, so i simply disconnected the battery for a few minutes, it worked a treat!

 

Started up and of it went, so far (touch wood) there have been no issues! Time will tell as i drove 25 miles tonight and it did not come back, but it typically came on, in a cold start condition, so im leaving it over night then ill start it up in the morning to test it.

So unfortunately after further fault finding today, using some official Skoda Serivce/Repair manuals i have, as well as talking to Tech1e, it would appear my front (pre-cat) Lambda/O2 sensor has failed.

 

But what confuses me the most is with my multimeter It measures fine for resistance of the heater at 3 Ohms, which is acceptable 1-5 Ohms at ambient temperature, 15 Ohms hot.

 

So that points at a loom issue, but i measured the relevant voltages for the heater, and it was 12V. only thing i couldnt test was whether it was actually switching off the heater when told to. purely due to my lack of experience with vcds.

 

But after doing 3 runs to the tip today to tidy up our back garden, we then cleaned the car. So atleast thats done.

 

If anyone can suggest anything to try with the O2 sensor? the fault which is occurring is 17604. I think its rather risky to buy a £130 sensor only to find the fault still exists and theres no guarantee that one from a breakers will even work.

So after much thought, I bought a brand new Lambda/O2 sensor today, I fitted it and all fault codes so far have gone! happy days! that said, it was £130 risk that it wasnt going to work!

 

When i took the old one out, i had a proper look this time and "He's Dead Jim" came to mind :D

Derv to 1.8T? ouch that would cost a bit :P more than just a Lump you may as well buy a 1.8T Ibiza Cupra/FR and swap everything over like fuel lines etc :)

 

or just start with a petrol :)

Hi Taylor93, I've got the same issue with my vacuum hoses. I would like to see how you managed a work around with the new hose if that's possible?

First and for most I would take a good look at the pipes, if they are shaped up from the brake master up along the edge of the engine bay/bulkhead to the near side of the bay, then down to the throttle body then you may have a similar issue to mine. Basically the RHD part quoted for this would not fit in any way. However, the parts may fit your car, so i would check with TPS or the Dealer to see if the part shown in etka is anything like yours, if it is, buy it and replace it. (quoting the stamped part number will also help :) )

 

My final solution, was to cut the longer of the two pipes to a certain shape and length. which would connect from  the Intake manifold vacuum feed, to the brake servo. Then due to the nature of the pipe, I gradually heated the end of the pipes with a heat gun so they became malable. I then quickly pushed them on to the respective connections but note that the pipes cool quickly. so once its on it will have cooled and "shrunk" to a smaller size creating a vacuum seal. 

 

Although this may be considered by some as a "bodge" I was able to get the system leak-free and that is a similar technique to what they would do in the factory during production.

I rang up my local dealer and quoted the part numbers stamped on the pipes ("6Q0-612-014 B" & "6Q2-612-014"), to which they said had been discontinued and replaced with one different pipe. I'm picking it up this afternoon, and it's going to cost me 30 squids, so I presume it's the same case as yours.

 

I'll make sure to check if it fits before I leave - if any modification is required to fit a stock replacement part, surely that's their responsibility. I read something a while back that these pipes were on recall from the VW Polo years back, I did ask the question, but their service guy said there wasn't any recalls for the Fabia.
