Tablet mount on vRS buckets

Featured Replies

When we test drove a vRS the other day, my daughter (age 9) was very impressed, but for two things - firstly the front buckets restricted her forward visibility (not much I can do about that!) and secondly the seat design will put paid to her mounting her Nabi tablet and watching films.

So... any ideas on how to mount a tablet on the back of the buckets? Or get her used to holding it?

TIA. :)

Good question, I would like to know this one too.

Something I've been wondering as the daughter will be most upset on a long journey.

I've considered something like this as it looks like it will stretch to fit around the top of the head rest and should be secure enough. Not as ideal as the mounts that attach directly to the head rest rails but best I've seen em for that type of seat.

Only thing I can think of to help your daughter hold onto her nuvi is a dab of this onto each digit, although it may cause some other issues.

I don't see any of these mounts working. 1st there is no flat surface for the bands to grip ( both sides of seat top angled) 2nd the head rest is part of the seat so there is no gap where the two poles are on show for a band to go through. Good luck getting an answer, you will be very popular if you find one.

I hadn't a clue what u were on about in ur heading, buckets lol

Might be worth having a look at what people with Volvos have done, my old 850T5 had the same "all in one" design so I'd guess this issue has been solved by someone.

Have a look for Arkon mounts.

gullyg -Good thinking, being a former Volvo owner myself I know what you mean. Volvo make a 'kick guard' to protect the back of the seat part number 6815902 -I don't think that it would look too out of place in a Skoda. You could then attach the tablet to that.

The seats in the VRS are a bit of an unusual design and a tad on the huge side  :giggle:

So over 2.5 years have passed since this was asked - does anyone now have any decent suggestions to solve this problem?

You just need to find one of these with an adjustable top strap. Instead of fitting round the headrest poles the strap will sit on the vRS seats shoulders.

The lower straps then secure around the bottom of the seat as normal...

Gripfill? ;)

Thanks. The issue is that on a lot of these, the straps are not big enough to go round the headrest part, or are just big enough to go round the very top but wont go far enough down

@Village That looks like a good idea. Just remember to give the glass a good clean first to make sure it doesn't come crashing down. If it does work well you could try to replace/supplement the suction cups with 3M sticky pads.

I'm not sure whether there are any conveniently placed bolts (seat rails maybe) but how about a floor mounted gooseneck tablet holder?

These velcro ones seem to work on my vrs seats in that the velcro stretches round horizontally and stays. Note I've not tested it on a long journey yet! Not sure id want to put a heavy tablet on it like a surface on it but your average 7 or 8 inch android should be fine.

Edit: There are a few different models. Actual one I bought is here.

Whatever happened to counting red cars or arguing with a sibling on a long car journey?

Never had such worries in my day lol

Thanks. Wish I'd seen this! Will see how I get on with the roboarm and if no good then back it goes and I'll go for one of these. It's for an iPad mini so I'd have thought this'd hold it

  • 2 years later...

@village how did you get on with the roboarm? Got an Alps road trip coming up with the family and looking into getting the tablets working in the back. Cheers.

We just use a piece of string wrapped around the seat and have a fold over case on the tablet.  Job done.

@Mikebham that is nothing short of genius :D

Would one with a suction mount stick to the back of the seat, or even on the window (if she's not prone to putting it up and down)?

Failing that, maybe a mount to clip on the vents between the seats?
