Richard's GT-R thread, old and new!

Featured Replies

Then I put down a deposit.

It'll be here late March or early April.

One MY14 Model R35 GT-R in Vermillion Red with a black interior.

My car budget for 2014 just got absolutely shafted.

Good job I got a discount because the fancy paint is £1,750!

My wife is fine about it, but I think I'm still in shock.

She seems happier than I am.

In a good way...  :giggle:

  • A few pics of the deeper red colour when the sun is down, brothers in arms.

  • Right.   I gave myself a good talking to and popped out for a little bonding with the new car.   Holy moley it's even more bonkers than I remember the last ones being. Yes, they have worked a lot

Oh no! Richard, what have you done?

At least you have one completely functional car for this season (sorry couldnt resist).

Congrats, like your choice of cars!

Congratulations. That vermillion red is stunning. You should get some LMs on it...

Who's going to rebuild the LMs off the R32? I'd send them to Mike the Polisher. Or me. Except I wouldn't return them. :p

I nearly bought it.

I'm selling one the same colour  :bandit:

RK Tuning organised that for me.

They were picked up today by the boss and are wearing a new set of Toyo 888s.

Will let you know how they look next time I see them.

Nutter.

Can I have a ride please :D

The citigo was meant to stop you buying gtrs Richard :D

Lovely colour, any new features of the MY2014?

That's an amazing colour Richard. Seats are a bit niche though!

Did you take it out at all? Is it much different to drive than your old R35?

So what?

Another Datsun

Bothered?

F * ck, yeah!

:(

You just can't resist can you? Don't blame you either, that looks stunning in that colour.

Enjoy!

With you on the interior. Paintwork does look great.

Waiting time is less than a Skoda! Wish you all the best with it.

Because it's a Nissan HQ car and not a dealer demo I couldn't drive it, but I did get a passenger ride and the first thing that hits you is how much better it is on normal (not perfect) roads.

Yes, well... I don't see any Citigo around here at the mo...

Yes, they update a little bit every year.

The NISMO version is coming that's job is to chase lap times at the ring.

(the ring track pack version is going to be about £140+k rather than the stock NISMO price of £125k !!!!!)

This means that for the first time Nissan seem to have sat back and thought "Right, it's quick enough, let's make it a better road car".

It's still got 550bhp.

It's got new Bilstein suspension, more insulation and a sound cancelling feature on the BOSE system so it filters out excessive road noise and lets the mechanical, engine and exhaust noise through.

Meaning it not only rides better on the road now, it's a nicer place to be if you've got some miles to cover as the sounds levels are better controlled.

When we left the dealership, we pulled out over some speed bumps, crossed a manhole cover and some rough tarmac and my previous GT-Rs would have crashed and bashed... but this rode as smoothly as when I had the Litchfield suspension kit fitted to my yellow one. (which was quite expensive itself)

They have also tweaked the inside a bit, given it some LED lights all round and also added a feature to the headlights.

So as you go faster they angle up slightly to improve long distance vision.

They've also got a new tyre compound and upgraded the multi-function meter on the dash so it's a bit more modern.

Maybe a few other tweaks, but small ones.  Like carbon fibre in the dash dials etc...

It still badly needs carbon trim on the centre console to match the dash and dial surrounds.

I'll be ordering this aftermarket like I did for my previous car.

Plain grey plastic on the centre console?  Err... :wonder:

If you don't spec the premium (lairy) seats the rear two seats are a bit basic still too.

Nissan's marketing stuff on the MY14.

Shows how popular Skodas have become.

Nissan can build you a GT-R and ship it all the way from Japan and it'll still arrive before a Yeti. :giggle:

Or a downpipe........  :giggle:

It's got new Bilstein suspension.

I have the same brand of suspension on my Fabia, glad Nissan followed suit

I'll hold off on arranging the Essex meet until you have this I think  :mmm:

Sounds great. Look forward to going out in it :) maybe silverstone again?

That was an amazing day. :sun:

Looking nice and clean underneath too, considering it's a 21 year old car.

Are you planning on wax oiling it or under sealing it? Most jap imports need it don't they? Or us it never going to see salty British roads and weather?

  • Author

It'll get a bit of protection, but I'm not going to go sploshing lumps of underseal everywhere because it won't be allowed out in bad/salty conditions.

Hoping I'll be keeping it for a while and want it to last.

Would you not be better off going for some internal waxing of the chassis then a simple underseal on the underside? A bit of classic car magazine reading might help steer you on the waxing front.

Hoping I'll be keeping it for a while and want it to last till the new one arrives.

Edited it for you :D
