Richard's GT-R thread, old and new!

I'm finding myself looking at R32's and I'd love one but I wouldn't know what the pitfalls were. All are imports, finding a good one like Richard's is hard plus I'm not sure how easy it would be to insure one. How easy is it to get parts or is it a case of uprate things when they wear out?

They have a huge tuning and upgrading market.  Parts aren't that expensive, hardly any different to VAG stuff.

Getting a good one can be tricky.  Left outside they start to suffer sill and rear arch rust which is expensive to fix.

Always buy from a reputable trader.

Buying the car is the easy part though a they cost a fair bit to run.

Mine averages 16mpg and around 5mpg on track, both half what my tuned Yeti does which weighs almost the same.

As a "fun car" little touches them in my opinion.

Old enough to be raw and need to be driven.

Power sent to the back first makes it feel like a RWD car.

Amazing traction.

Bonkers power possible even without silly levels of mods.

Good ones will go up in value over time.

They are rare and rather cool.

  • Right.   I gave myself a good talking to and popped out for a little bonding with the new car.   Holy moley it's even more bonkers than I remember the last ones being. Yes, they have worked a lot

Saw a R35 GT-R blast through the village twice! He gave it some stick and it sounded absolutely lovely! Also the looks of them appeal to me! It was a graphite Grey kind of colour with a private plate :)

I've seen two like that in the last week.

Cheapy private plates too.

Almost common. ;):D

Yeah this was a cheesy one :)

Think it's a local one as I'm sure I've seen it out here twice before!

I meant cheapy. :D

They spend so much on fuel, brakes and tyres most of the ones I see seem to have £99 plates on.

Never understand that, put all your money into a depreciating asset and spend a little on something that you can keep forever.

Oh dear :( no this one had a proper plate :) out here in the sticks the sound echoes and rolls for miles so I could hear the engine quite well :)

Got new front arms on now, so got 2 degrees of camber to match the back.

Should help it turn a little better.

Supposed to be at brands with a decent driver showing me round tomorrow.

But also looks like rain all day.

May take the Yeti... or the Fiesta.

That is lovely!

Best colour.

Not that I am biased. :D

Same importer that sourced mine originally too.

Aye been looking at them since seeing yours thinking... hmmmm.. and then my brain kicks in telling me... no don't do it.. better spending your money elsewhere. Every time I come on here I end up seeing or noting something else to spend my money on.... should be called Spendikoda instead!

Aaaaaand I can barely afford a ruddy Clio and Fabia so sadly that's a no from me! Could you imagine the insurance.....

Bad enough on a Seat Ibiza and Mk1 Octavia VRS.

Not as bad as mine I guarantee

Ohh Richard fancy buying my Octy for £12995 so I can get that GTR ?

Checking the car over for Thursday...

GTROC meet up for a track day on the Silverstone GP circuit.

15 cars booked in our group.

One R32 GT-R, one R33 GT-R, one R34 GT-R and twelve of the new fangled ones. :D

Will be interesting to see how it goes on a circuit with some nice long straights.

It'll be keeping up with the standard R35s won't it?

If the drivers are ham fisted, yes. :)

The electronics in the R35 flatter average drivers.
