  • Right.   I gave myself a good talking to and popped out for a little bonding with the new car.   Holy moley it's even more bonkers than I remember the last ones being. Yes, they have worked a lot

I have a hammer and a hack saw, does this mean i can do bodywork?

Ha I've got an air saw too, does that help?

Then spend a lot of time trying to keep it pointing in the right direction...

'Right direction' being perpendicular to the direction of travel with armfulls of corrective input ?

When you read up about what the car could do it makes a lot of sense why it was so tunable.

Road spec with the restrictor was alledgedly 280, but everyone thought it was more like 320.

But the head would flow 650 stock, which is what they were running after some development in racing.

It clearly wasn't designed to have that kind of headway by accident.

Bought it yet? ... :D

So I assume the 2.8 bore out won't happen as its more logical to just put the money from that into this instead and just enjoy that one as a road monster.

Pretty much yes.

I wanted to my get my current one a 2.8 and alter the gear ratios a little to close the gears up.

RK Tuning have just rebuilt an R32 box out of a 1,000bhp drag car after it chewed 4th gear with the OS Giken shorter gears, I found out this morning...

So they are putting that in my current car to see if I like it on a track day.

If it does what I need then the 2.8 money can go into the track day R32.

The rough goal is getting the weight down as near to 1,250kg as possible and giving it around 700bhp.

Around 550bhp per tonne, which should do as a stock new R35 is 550bhp and almost 1,800kg. Plus a fancy gearbox! :D

Subscribing to this! Nothing like seeing some R35 drivers who've just spent 80 odd grand buying a new GTR get overtaken by a 1990s GTR :)

I thought your no1 GT-R was fast. So Christ knows what this is going to be like.

I do like the clear front indicators. Makes it look a little more modern.

Fantastic plan you have. How heavy is the average roll cage?

I was planning on changing the indicators...

Cage is probably about 40kg, but I'll be saving more than that on the lightweight doors alone.

Obviously some of it I don't need and will be selling, but it's pretty well equipped which is why it made sense to get it needing some structural work for a track toy.

I had a conversation about this with a Supra4 owner. He was convinced that the Supra4 had 40bhp more than the R32GTR until I pointed out that they were about the same weight and equally fast (unrestricted, stock).

I was planning on changing the indicators...

Faster! :D

Looking at the rear arches, I was wondering if a wide body kit might be the cheapest and easiest cure? (well, apart from the wider wheels and tyres obviously).

Under the "gentelmans agreement" with the Japanese government all cars were supposed to be limited to around 280bhp but it sounds like they were all being a bit pessimistic with that figure by around the same amount! :D

I've got someone that is going to cut all the rust away and fabricate new panels with a little more wheel clearance.

There are no repair panels, so you need someone who knows what they are doing.  Hence a two month wait!

Not as bad as I thought then :)

2nd Briskoda Rolling Road day at AMD in Essex today.

Results are in, and it's making pretty much bang on what it should.

530bhp and 440lb.ft, so averaging the two runs the build quote of 520 is accurate.

Peaks at around 6,700rpm.

beautiful car that mate, nice to see it making the numbers

Silverstone full GP circuit is looking like fun tomorrow...

Light rain in the morning, heavy rain in the afternoon.

530bhp in a 22 year old car with no ABS on semi-slicks.

Take the 600 bhp one instead :D
