How do yo think it will compare in the corners, being a bit lighter? There's some pretty tight corners around silverstone

  • Right.   I gave myself a good talking to and popped out for a little bonding with the new car.   Holy moley it's even more bonkers than I remember the last ones being. Yes, they have worked a lot

Similar I hope.

R35 was on road rubber and stock geometry, but amazing brakes and the flappy paddle box..

R32 is on 888s and 2 degrees of camber all round.

The R35 is so good out of the box not much can touch it unless very well set up.

And even then the R32 will lose a lot of ground every time you go to change gear.

I do expect it to be more fun though.

That's the main thing really is the enjoyment :) I thought it was brilliant in the r35, so a slightly tail happy r32 will be a right giggle

Nismo day today at the ring.

Mainly for people who have ordered a very expensive version of the R35...

Although we were invited (GTROC) to play from 2pm work means no can do. :(

Looks brilliant as always. Glad you had a great time :)

Looks amazing!

Agrees glad you had a good day Richard, lovely looking car as normal and a lot of fun had by all accounts. Looking forward to any videos you put up.

Nice spin btw LOL! Very nice footage as always Richard!

Excellent save at the end Richard :)

What a machine you've got :) goes really well

Handles better than that 6 series!

Yes, that's the GTROC track day organiser in his Litchfield MY11.

The R35 may be a heavy lump but it doesn't half shift with over 700bhp. :D

The guy can really drive too, does more track days per year than most people I've ever met.

He gets a better line into the straight too if you look as he takes a wider line to get on the power earlier.

Considering I've not been to Silverstone since I had the yellow R35 I was very happy how things went, but I'm never going to be that good. :)

The best flying lap from Silvertone that I could find.

Only one hold up due to a slower car in one corner.

Lap time is in the high 2:38, I made it 2:38.8.  That's with two of us in the car.

Would be nice if a 2:35 was possible.  Don't think I'm far off, due to the hold up.

Phwoarrrr that pop noise :) :) :)

I was told later in the day that sometimes when down changing for a corner the car shoots a 2 or 3 foot flame out of the exhaust.

It might be that...

Well didn't you say you wanted a flame thrower someday?! ;)

If someone gets burnt legs in Chelmsford I'll know who is to blame :P

That is one noisey beast.

So a plan has been hatched to make the R32 GT-R even more drivable.

Going to upgrade the RB26 to a 2.8 and do some head work.

Result will be a little more top end power (520bhp increasing to around 540-550bhp, so not too silly) but much more importantly a better spread of power and torque throughout the rev range with the current turbos spooling earlier.

Also looking at slightly altered gear ratios to close them up a little, keeping it fine for the road but better for track days.

Since when has 550bhp not been silly? :D

Well, a gain of only 20 or 30 seems quite sensible.

But the midrange should make quite a difference on track.

Maybe my perspective had been altered...

My passenger rides in the GT-R has defiantly warped my sense of speed/power, on saturday i was a passenger in a classic racing Mini, only a 1000cc, but had 75bhp, he had the tail out and everything, but i was sitting there nice and calm as if it was a sunday drive, compared to when my uncle went out as the passenger (first time on track) he came back needing a new pair of pants!

Nice; The extra drivability (and extra power everywhere that's not peak power revs) might be enough for the 2:35.
