  • I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

  • Here's mine today when I removed them for compression test, 11,000 km on them currently. I think they can comfortably go to 20K (km) ?

That's what they said when I asked for a inspection. They said they only recommended replacement as id paid for the inspection already

Chappers 777,

I doubt you have any comeback on the Dealership.

The Plugs going that way is why the CAVE was changed and the CTHE was Introduced.

& now some are having issues, and early ones have for a while now.

That is the Fundamental Design Issue with the 1.4 TSI / TFSI Twincharger 132-136kw.

The 1 cylinder getting cooked.

....................

Not many Dealerships change the Fuel Filter,

that is good to see it was done, if it was and not just charged for.

Yeah I looked at that it was brand new. Skoda UK said yeah they will sort and the dealership said it also it's just the bloody timing it had the be a bank holiday weekend as well. Are there new plugs which are fitted to these now?

I thought my plugs looked okay apart from number 2?

And what do you mean by comeback?

No idea how Skoda UK will sort out the Dealership, they did nothing wrong.

Unless Skoda UK are doing a goodwill gesture.

VW Designed & Built the Engines and give the Service Schedule Guidelines on Spark Plugs,

& Skoda built the cars.

So Skoda / VW are responsible not the Dealership.

Cylinder 3 goes because of their Design & Manufacturing & Engine Management.

My new car is a 2011 cave engine with 35k. Not very good at the art of plugs. I thought the white was a bad thing. Cyl3 as im looking from front is different to others. A lot more oily. Car isnt using excessively though. Not sure if I have a members ex car or not.

There just confirming that the issue is covered by the dealership and warranty and there shouldn't be a cost. I can't really afford to get a new engine.

There just making sure I'm happy with the overall fix when it comes around.

I was told by a VAG specialist that all parts come with this warranty. So I rang SUK to log the issue

I've sorted a car for a couple days which is good for now but ideally I need mine back ASAP.

They were the plugs that were in it. Changed them for the 7s as they worked well on my hatch. Got denso ones recommended by you George ready for next time.

Chappers777,

Good stuff.

TheGrinch,

Plugs look fine.

That cylinder oils the plug a bit, and that is why you want to get the engine properly hot with a good blast

regularly and give it a good clean out, and just be aware of the plugs.

Maybe put the DENSO in next time for a bit more peace of mind.

Catch you on the 14th hopefully. Evening.

I will PM you a Mobile No. next week.

EDIT.

Typing as you posted.

Thanks again for the help ✋

These are the plugs from left to right (oil cap to battery)

That's what happened to my plug and I ended up with a new engine.

What happened to your plug? Fell off?

Did it still run fine when pottering about?

I reckon that earth electrode has burnt off.  From your previous posts I assumed the centre electrode was the culprit.

It hope it's caused no damage I'll find out tomorrow

No it didn't run fine it scored the cylinder wall so needed a new engine.

By the sounds of it I think I may have gotten away with it

WOW, is it tomorrow already?

Like I said 'think' but will find out what skoda says. Both RAC techs think its okay

Without reading through all he pages can anyone recommend any uprated spark plugs?

I can recommend ones safer than OEM because they last longer.

DENSO Iridium  SKJ20CR~A8#4   (3371)

Couple of guys on Facebook recommended ngks.

But my mate with a focus St recommended the denso ones so I think I'll try them

Densos will be my next plug of choice, simply to see how would they look after I abused them  compare to NGK's

Skoda just called. They replaced all plugs under parts and labour warranty always get akoda to change your plugs. I'd they fail and kill your car it's covered under their warranty.

They replaced all 4 but never found the broken electrode and said the car isn't missing anymore so should be fine
