Philbes I like the auto BUT they are incredibly expensive when they go wrong and they don't have as long a life as manual boxes. Oscar was on 80k when I bought him and had already had one new gearbox. He is now on 160k and the gearbox is starting to play up again. Estimated cost to replace was 1500 which is more than he was worth esp when I knew other things were on their way out lol

Auto is great but manual is more interactive and more robust. In a perfect world I'd flick a switch and choose between full manual or full auto lol

Nah Shame go for it :) glad you like it too - we clearly both have great taste lol

I've got the number plate surrounds,  but they won't be put on until I have the pressed number plates to go with it, probably from Dubmeister or other recommended seller.

What prevents someone clicking open the surround & nicking your plates ?

Could ask the same about normal plates that are attached using the sticky pads. As I live in the heart of the countryside and there hasn't been any thefts nearby in the last 2 years, I don't think I have a lot to worry about.

If you have a look at the surround there's plenty of securing places on there and I expect that I will get some "special" adhesive that will secure it into the surround so that it's difficult if not nigh on impossible to remove.

I'm in a pretty decent area. Plus they would need a screw driver too I guess.

Maybe I will just have to chain up the hell hounds near enough to ward off any potential plate thieves? Lol

Lovely car. I love the plate surrounds too but at 20 pounds including postage mmmm :)

I love how despite Skoda providing two sets of number plate mounting holde in the front bumper your dealer has has just decided to make an extra two to mount your plates..... This is why I always get then to stick them on.

Enter "skoda octavia vrs number plate surround" into Ebay sans the quotes. You should find them for under £17.

PS. The car looks lovely & the chrome makes it look even nicer.

And for a tenner you can some Brisky ones from the Brisky shop.

Bu66er never thought of them,

awesomegti.com have "Skoda vRS motorsport" number plate surround for £5.99 each.

However, I have just purchased the number plate surrounds from Briskoda.com - just to be loyal!

They're the old ones.

Yeah the awesomegti ones are loooooooooooads cheaper. However I preferred the ones with the red '/' on them. Just made them pop a bit more imo :)

I cleaned him today too lol. Being kinda in the countryside the farmers round here are doing a lot of work and there is a lot of mud on the roads out of my town. So of course I have been a couple of places in him and he has got rather filthy. Before and after pics lol. The boyfriend likes to always have a shiny car so we were very sad and cleaned our cars together ROFL   I have said it is now required for a weekly sunday thing! (also as he is tall I need him to reach the middle of the roof as I cant hehe)

The alfa is the boyfriends. He is called Jocky (from his plates lol)
