  • So todays little modification = gas struts on the bonnet so I never have to use that horrible stick thing again!    Before we start       First screw and washer removed (by the way you canno

  • You would understand if you had large breasticles and wore strappy tops in summer :P I have sensitive soft skin :P

  • Right, seat handle inserts ordered. WARNING, following LadyVs thread is bad for your bank balance!

I was tempted by these (aswell as the seat handle inserts) but I wasn't sure how the hinges would handle the pressure of the struts.

How does it feel? Not too hard?

Both neat mods I have planned but was waiting for a guinea Pig so way to go Lady V!

Like to read you response to Mike99vRS's question before committing.

How long did they take to arrive from time of order? Was shipping cost reasonable?

Intrigued by the gas struts, but like Mike999vRS, I can appreciate that there might be a fair bit of stress exerted on some areas when the bonnet is closed (which is much of the time).

Cars that have these as OEM fit, do they use the same fixings, or do they have beefed up ones?

I was more thinking over coming the initial force to close the bonnet. It all depends how stiff they are I guess.

I do miss them from my x-type though. I'm sure my Toledo had them too but I could be wrong.

Oh and are the handle inserts a good fit?

I'm surprised you haven't got the alloy footrest yet!

I think when my new(er) car turns up it will be wind deflectors, rear sill protectors (why do they only supply the fronts?!?) and the footrest. For starters!

We'll it doesn't feel too hard to me but I can't exactly say I'm a connoisseur of them! The points at which it connects to the metal feel fine to me. The strut does lay on a foam bit which I debated channelling out but decided to leave as is and see how it goes. I figured it's only foam so can compress easily and it's not particularly secure so if anything the strut may help it stay put lol

I believe the oem fitted ones are very similar in design but I guess google is your friend to find the answer on whether the fixing bracket is the same.

Shipping time I think was around 4/5 days but I would have to check the shipping cost. Wanna say it was 14 euros but not sure on that at all.

P.S oooh look at me being the first for a mod lol

rs!

Maybe I'm just really strong and buff and that's why it doesn't feel stiff to me?! Pmsl

Looks great :)

Im surprised at how many bits you have done already :D

Hey that's a general hazard of briskoda not just me lol. If I hadn't joined I probably wouldn't have done any of it hehehehe. I love this site it's fab but it makes me poor lol

Mike999vRS is to be blamed as well, until he posted it, I had no idea I didn't have rear sill protectors!

Now, where did I put my credit card....

Nice to see you checked your car when you collected it!

This thread needs links!

I would have liked to do this but unfortunately mine has the active bonnet which has been subsequently discontinued but I think is the reason for the bog standard support on all cars, rather than Skoda changing to the gas support system that they fit to the Superb!

I had no idea! Probably too busy playing with the sunroof...

I hope LadyV doesn't mind...

Call me a boring old fart, but its only bad for the bank balance if you allow yourself to be tempted. So far, the number of The Cookie Monsters mods that I have decided to go for is a great big 'ZERO'.

Hence my bank balance and I are happy to read this thread arm in arm!!

Sir, I always knew you were intelligent :D

I dont care what anyone else says, dont listen to them

Oh, even more worrying is the number of men just following in her footsteps ;)

I'm pretty sure superskoda do it for both with and without active bonnet
