Look take unsubstantiated and then think again. As much as you do not know others do

Dropped engine for the present. There is a greater than 20% failure rate than what was built and sold. Open your eyes, see the truth and look at the issues with the engines being discussed here, not other VW Lemons.

Root toot.

  • Thank you very much so far, really sad for those that Skoda UK fail to see owning a properly repaired car.   Please, if you could keep coming forward with your experience & the Warranty work th

  • Not sure I get that bit - mine is three and a half years old with 20k - it certainly hasn't had a hard life.

  • Sell it to me hopefully, cheaply. Or give it to me to try out.,   I would fit good spark plugs, put in 98 ron petrol, get the correct ECU update on it, put in the correct quantity of oil, just 3.6

Can we please have any link to any Ifficial acceptance by VW of failures on their part with design, manufacturing or Quality control from 2009-2014. Any written conformation to those that have required 1 or more Twincharger Engines replaced over the 5 years of production?

Hi,

Been a while since i posted - Skoda still not accepting responsibility.  Have offered 50% "goodwill but because i hadn't pro-actively been in to complain of excess oil consumption, they are arguing that they couldnt perform the consumption test prior to the second engine going - therfore cant say categorically excess oil caused the damage!!!!

Have asked for the final response in writing and intend on going to my solicitor...

No win situation - you go in to complain about excess oil consumption and you receive the stock response - 'They all do that, sir'.

<SNIP> They all do that, sir'.

Which is allegedly 100% true ;)

You are again talking nonsense. Who alleges that 100% do other than Dealerships according to what some employees say

Nobody here has ever alleged that which is why people keep buying cars with no issues, and people that learn what can reduce the risk or potential of major issues, like several members here with the very first UK cars registered in the UK in 2010.

Any chance of this thread being used for owners with replaced engined and gearboxes and those defending the actions of VW / Skoda going onto some other of the dozens of threads and posts, there is a pinned one by an expert at the top of the page!!

New engine fitted and picking up tomorrow. Has anyone had the warranty extended on the engine or as I was told over the phone, it is only warranted along side the existing warranty. In my case only another 8 months. Said this was concerning as we don't do a lot of miles and any issues may not become apparent in this period. He did say Skoda would still offer some cover after this period but not an official warranty.

Anyone has dealings with arguing a longer warranty on the engine? Understand other areas wont be covered after 3 years

  • Author

Yes plenty get an Extended Warranty.

All nice and dandy provided by Skoda UK.

Plenty are told no, then the Customer Services Managers can get on the case and sort out the arrangements.

I will bump the Constant Treatment thread,

then some of the Members with Extended Warranties might post.

Several still active are on the forum from time to time.

OK, thanks. Will talk to them tomorrow and see how Bristol's dealer handles it but good to know that it can be obtained.

  • Author

It is not really for the dealer to handle it, but good if they do.

The T&C's of the Warranty is that the Warranty Parts are just covered during the Original Manufacturers Warranty.

If you buy Official parts including Engines, or another Warranty Provider pays for them you get 2 years.

Some pay a small amount of the Work and the Parts so that they have this 2 Year Warranty.

But the 1.4TSI 132-136 Twincharger 2009-2012 then 2012-2014 is a bit of a special case,

because VW never sorted issues and replacement engines have been replaced, and even a 2nd replacement has been known to fail.

Several members here have a car with Engines rebuilt or replaced that then failed again,

and these cars are under 6 years old, even under 3 years old.

If the Dealer does not deal with the Extension of the Warranty then you need Skoda UK Customer Services on the case.

If they say it never happens, then that person is new or a liar.

Been a year since I was last on the forum regarding the Oil consumption issue.

Got my first Fabia VRS in 2013 and am now on a replacement car and between the 2 cars 5 engines, each replaced under warranty.

The current engine has not used any oil since it was fitted so it proves they can get the engines to work right although why I needed 4 previous ones to get to this point I don't know.

Keep on at them and make sure the consumption tests are done as soon as you notice anything and they do get there eventually.

Had a fair bit of goodwill as well from them due to the amount of times I have complained but all good now.

Hi,

Quick update following my last post.  In desperation i reached out to the managing director on Linkedin (Duncan Movassaghi) - to my surprise within a couple of hours the Director of quality was on the phone and they have now replaced the engine free of charge.  I suspect that this was due to the length of time I have been p1ssed about, along with the way i was dealt with by the original garage and the continued ineptitude of the Customer Service team.

they've given me 2 yr warranty on the engine and thrown in free servicing too.  Alls well that ends well, just need to keep an eye on the engine!

Nice to hear that both of you finally got on OK, well done.

There are others still with ongoing issues that require them getting a decent Handler or Customer Services Manager that needs

to actually get to grips with what is a serious problem that Skoda UK Customer Services tried to pretend was not.

The New Skoda Brand Director Duncan Movassaghi has enough time working with Skoda, then VW and again Skoda to know

how badly Alasdair Stewart the Brand Director he replaces dealt with matters.

had the engine replaced last Aug by skoda warranty. they confirmed the engine came with new jet squirters. 7k miles later and i have not top up at all!

story with old engine. the oil consumption test were 1.3lire per 1000KM (621miles). they fitted the oil squirters but that didnt helped cos the damage were done to pistons (overheat i think) so they replaced the engine. they were very confident with new engine that already fitted with new oil squirters

I am just bumping this up so that when a copy is sent to Skoda UK Customer Services and Senior Management they can see the exaggerated

and overblown stuff you get on the internet.

Or maybe just examples of quite a few cases that were often handled badly 2010-1016 by Skoda UK Customer Services and Skoda Dealerships.

There are still dozens of cars on the roads and at traders and dealerships with unresolved issues because Skoda UK pretended

there were no issues and all customers could get were goodwill from Skoda UK.

???

Any members recently had a replacement engine installed by Skoda, another warranty provider or paid by themselves?

Got a second hand vrs 2010 a couple of weeks and noticed it's using about a ltr of oil to about 300 miles. Unfortunately not bought from a sofa dealer but the garage I have bought it from have taken it in to look at. Waiting to hear what they say

Welcome to the forum.

there is a pinned thread at the top of the page by vxh26.

I hope you have a warranty or can just return the car to them as sadly it seems you have a gubbed engine.

a rebuild will not help.

Nothing short of another engine will fix things.

Covered under consumer rights at the moment not even had the car 30 days yet! Gutted because it's the first car me and my partner both love. Is it replace the whole engine or just bottom end? We'll have to see how far the garage is prepare to go with it

I'd honestly just hand it back, especially when you didn't buy it from a Skoda dealership.

No point any Technician or Salesperson suggesting a Short Engine, bottom end rebuild or anything else on a CAVE engine car without considering what the top end is like after 5-6 years and how ever many miles.

**Be sure to check what warranty work has already been done in the first 3 years, some early cars had Short Units fitted,

or bottom end rebuilds before Skoda started fitting Base Units'.**

Best just return it as 'Not fit for purpose' in the 30 days.

Know issues by VW, Skoda, VW, Seat & Audi and After Market Warranty Providers.

High failure rates in the 1.4 TSI Twinchargers 2009-2012 greater than 20%, even failures in replacement engines.

*Not overblown on the internet or Briskoda, the VW Group know exactly how many engines gave been require for less than 2,900

Mk2 Fabia vRS registered in the UK.*

REJECT the car immediately

the ONLY fix is a brand new engine.

when i had my 2011 vrs from skoda dealership, full skoda service history. it burned some much oil. after about 10 visits to dealership. i got really fed up. they replaced many parts but none of them fixed the oil problem. at the end they gave up and replaced the engine. no oil burn anymore. about 10K miles now. have not top up yet!

your car is not from skoda dealership so the chance of you getting a new engine is very slim so REJECT the car immediately. the longer you let the garage to fix, the harder to reject.

good luck

PS. a litre of oil per 300 miles, that engine is fk'ed! my old engine burned 1.3 litre per 1000km (631miles) accorded to oil consumption test by Skoda

So 2011 Cave engine replaced last week 43k covered. Using 1.1 litres per 800 mile had the breather mod and oil spray bars done to no avail. New engine is a reconditioned Cave from Germany built in August 2015

Have you requested any other compensation from Skoda CS UK?

Unfortunately I didn't keep any receipts for the oil top ups, I did get the cat and exhaust checked with the bore scope to see if any damage caused by high oil usage.

When you had the breather mod and oil spray jets done did it reduce the useage or did it still use the same?
