How to fix my Columbus! It's in a continuous start-up loop!

Featured Replies

Hi,

It's been a whole week now without my Columbus! Last Saturday I got in the car and was greeted with a dreaded start-up loop. I have followed some of the guides and reasuring info on here but am struggling to get anywhere.

I managed to get the 3810a firmware .iso onto a disk, (from rnsfirmware[dot]com) but the unit just seems to ignore the fact it's there! Am I missing a trick/step?

Do I need to apply the swl recovery software first?

Followed the steps on the vwwatercooled forum.

I have an 09 plate, v3 maps (5 digit postcode) and no secret menu, although can not access this even if i wanted to/could.

Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated.

I spoke to the Wakefield dealer and they suggested a diagnostic first (£40/half hour!). Erm...

Currently using a DAB portable plugged into an inverter for my musical delights. At least I have DAB in the car!! :)

Thanks in advance.

Another one bites the dust!

My current Superb is the first specimen (touch wood ) that has not had to have a replacement unit under warranty. Sadly you appear to be out of warranty so some of the other recovery methods mentioned by the wiser members of the forum will be the only way forward!

Good luck!
