Annoying Ripple When Idling

Featured Replies

Hi,

New Skoda owner here.

I've just bought a 4 year old Fabia Estate, 1.4 TDi with 16,000 miles on the clock. I'm very happy with it apart from one annoying little thing.

After a few drives, I've noticed a slight repetitive ripple when idling such as sitting at lights etc. I am not aware of it whilst the car is moving. I've read some of the similar sounding posts on here and I certainly wouldn't describe it as a wobble or a judder, I only really feel it through the seat. The idle speed remains fairly static according to the gauge and it certainly sounds that way. One thing that is probably worth mentioning is that the cam belt has just been replaced.

Is this something that's normal for this car and I should just get used to it? I'm thinking about taking it back to the dealer but it means a day off work so I thought I would see if there was any ideas on here first.

Thanks

I too have a 4 year old 1.4 tdi pd, albeit at 35k miles. My car does the exact same thing, however only upon first start up when the car is cold. It goes when you apply a little throttle and I think it is fairly common. It does however only occur on start up from cold, so prehaps you may want to run it to the dealer. Did you buy it from skoda? If so 1 year warranty. These engines are bullet proof so shouldn't be too much to worry over. .. if you dont get much of a response try pm'ing 'estate man' - very knowledgeable in these engines
