Electric window broken already!?!?!?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a 1.6 TDI skoda fabia 105 CR, its a 2011 reg with 40'000 miles on it,

drove home from work Friday night everything was fine, came to use the car Saturday morning and the passenger side electric window isn't working what so ever?????

my side works perfectly fine just the passengers side, anyone know why this is?

this happened 2 weeks ago and it hasn't worked since,

also does anyone know where the fuse box is?

wondering if its a case of just changing the fuse or do I need to take it back to the dealer?

Please help! thanks guys!

Is that still under warranty then or? If it is id just go straight back to the dealer.

The fuse box is under the steering wheel. Theres a little panel. If you pull the bottom of it gently towards you, it should just pop off.

Iv got a feeling all the electric windows run on the same fuse though. It may be a door panel off job to check switch? Could be either switch in either yours or passenger door, depends how theyre wired.

Have a look at the wiring in the bellows of the offending side… There has been numerous reports of wires snapping in there, as did my own mirror wiring, up/down function.

Check the window operation using the remote key fob - hold down the unlock button.

Mine stuck shut and I used this - it dropped and then has worked ever since (over 6 months ago).

yep do this...

Mine had the same problem once or twice...  I beleive the dealer added a resistor to the car during a service to correct it... (That may be BS, but it hasnt happened since)

Just hold the door open button on the fob till the windows open fully, then hold the close button till they close fully.

This worked for me lst time it happened.

Not all cars can do this so if no joy, you an do the same thing with the key in the lock… Turn and hold it till the windows close/open/close. Run a cycle or two and they should re-set if its just the setting. Wont help a broken wire or different fault though!

  • 1 month later...

A bit late to reply on this but,  my daughters Fabia N/S window stopped working last night.
Checked the fuse this morning, put it back and the window works fine. Had this years ago on a different make. I have no idea how this worked.

Mine also did this one cold, damp morning, but a 30 mile journey later it was working again. Guessing some kind of damp ingress which dried out over a journey?
