So... last night I was looking at 1.8t donors again.

The older shape Ibiza (2001-ish) seems to have a 1.8t with the air inlet on the same side as the Audi TT, but the other side to the later 1.8t Ibiza (2003+) and the Polo GTI.

Not sure it makes much difference, but I need to get on with this.

I think it's safe to say he enjoyed himself. :)

It's impossible to not enjoy yourself on a track day in someone else's car. I know I did!!!

I wasn't trying to sell it to him.

Kind of a thanks for all the running around he's done for me.

Ohh yes just a heads up incase Taylor hasn't told you yet but you will need a disc braked rear beam and ancillaries to fit in place of the drum brakes one as you can't just fit the callipers :(

I would hope an Ibiza FR/Cupra or Polo GTI comes with that.

Otherwise I'll scour Copart for a VRS again. :D

either or will do. Not sure tho if an old 2001 ibiza is the same or if it's based on the older plate form (mk3 golf era)

I have been advised to avoid the older Ibiza as while it has the correct engine it's not such an easy transplant and different management.

Also needs upgraded internals.

Based on the old platform :)

Based on the old platform :)

I've written that off then. :)

Will keep looking, there is a 56 plate Polo GTI I quite fancy on Copart which has had a good old shove up the rear.

Local too, will keep an eye on it.

Yes, it's a lot easier too.

I have a PD130 VRS engine, box, hubs etc.. sitting here. ;)

But you could just upgrade the TDI.

As much as I'm enjoying my project it won't get too far unless I have a full donor from what I'm learning!
