We might get time tomorrow, depending on priorities.

Plan it to get the dash etc.. out first.

Need to overcome downpipe issues I suspect.

I am working and popping in and out while Taylor cracks on...

Appreciated.

Have to say, it's nice to have some Fabia based work on a Fabia project thread! B)

Managed to find the set of mk1 Fabia lexan windows and the FRP tailgate.  Which is nice.

did you now. is the tailgate on clips or on the original boot latch?? much difference in weight?

Was your old carbon fibre bonnet beyond economic repair?

It was damaged, I need to look it out (it must be here somewhere...) and see Charlie.

We plan to use it, as this won't be road legal.

It's a fixed panel.

Can be adapted to use the hinges/lock but we'll just bond it on.

I expect the tailgate and glass will save around 25kg or so.

You can easily lift the bootlid with one hand.

We want the car under a tonne when it's finished.

Because the aim is 400bhp/tonne.

i guess as its a track car you can go as far like. Will be interesting to see how much the weight can drop down

A loose bootlid weighs an absolute ton, so serious saving by fitting a CF boot.  Probably the biggest single saving from one panel I bet. :)

i would say that then the doors would be the next in line

I couldn't find lighter doors and on the fronts we definitely want to retain a crash structure.

It'll have a roll hoop inside as well.

Plan is to remove everything we don't need on the doors, including cutting excess metal off the rears.

As you say, being a non-road legal car we can take things further than is usually possible.

The primary focus was Santa Pod.  If it works there we might invest in better brakes and suspension and see if it works on a track.

I believe the Corrado's engine was a bit laggy making 420bhp on a 1.8 so not ideal for track work though...

420 thru the front wheels will always be an issue in the corners enless you have some uber sticky tyres but again its not a road car. what boost and torque does it produce Richard? can always swap you my lesser powered engine

he's done well, i hope you made the lad a brew after all that

There goes Richard's stash of tea, biscuits and the bacon will take a severe reduction in numbers then!

Jeez, good progress, running and driving tomorrow?:D
