Day two is done.

Great help with both Taylor and Danny today, huge thank you to both of them.

Taylor has also gone off with two car looms and an Emerald ECU for the Christmas break...

Found my GT-R cover to keep the dust out while it's sitting with the windows down and the tailgate off.

Also love how creating a 1.8T Fantasy Green Fabia with 450bhp isn't considered the "Ultimate Fabia" project

This 400bhp one is a parts based toy using mainly bits we have laying around.

The "Ultimate Fabia" might not be as quick, but it will be far more OEM and usable every day.

But that's a plan/project for another day... :D

Was another great day, To be honest although i like the look of the corrado, I didnt care much for its engineering, seemed to be quite awkward to strip apart. I didnt like working on it too much, so after we pulled the engine out, i went back to removing the loom from the Fabia and left poor dan to the Corrado :p

All 3 of us were surprised as to how much the fabias entire loom weighed once it was out, id say around 20-30kg of copper which you rarely use.. pff who needs cabling for brake lights and heaters?

Ive not long got home but the plan this weekend is to decode the Emerald pin outs, and fathem out the spaghetti/what on earth is this mess/wiring loom from the corrado and see how much i can reuse on the Fabia :)

Good times! :D

Lovin the luxury window winders :)

may have  noticed the pair of mole grips on the winder arm as ive misplaced the winder handle in the bin :P Richard has a spare tho... afterall hes had a few Fabias... :D

I'm guessing it has the golf platform engine and gearbox mount brackets. This was my main issue as coming across them second hand wasn't easy and TPS refused to sell them me at a reasonable price. If the box is a 02J then and fabia mount can be used as in a diesel 02j fabia one but will require slight modification. Even the correct engine brackets will require modification to clear the cam belt tensioner. Drive shafts again anything from a 5 speed 02j from a polo or Ibiza etc will fit depending on the output shaft cup size of the gearbox. Eg mines the 100mm cups and I used Ibiza PD shafts

The issue we have with the gearbox is the wholes on the Corrados mount were horizontal (same plane as the crank) but the engine mounts we had vertical holes. So it could bolt onto the chassis leg but not the the block.

This is because the corrados setup had two cradles one at the front and one at the rear (subframe) each had a few vertical mounts.

None of that setup was useful to use unfortunately.

The original engine codes was AGU so a 150BHP so could have come from an octavia but the 5spd gearbox could be from anything lol.

regarding the driveshafts, i didnt check the sizes, but i know it had the M8 bolts on it rather than the M10 bolts on my vRS' driveshafts

Just a thought. Could we not change the cups from a 6 speed and use the vrs shafts?

its a 5 speed box, so the different shape/size means (i believe) the VRS drive shafts are different lengths i.e too long/short.

6 speed is 02m and will have different length shafts and more than likely a different spline in the diff so 02m cups won't fit a 02j. Tbh from what you have said Taylor it sounds like a 02A gearbox as found on the ABF 2.0l 16v unit that was probably in the rado originally.

Nah its a jabbasport box so it's not oem

Surely the casing is??

Looks like you've been having fun!

Keep up the good work.

Slightly OT but I've just come across some FGF's rally cars that I took photo's of when they were competing in the Dukeries Rally. Okay so they're not true FGF's but they are green and were made by Skoda. :peek:

Have taken FGF no 1 to a retail park.

Sitting in the back looking after sleeping baby while wife and son are shopping.

Couple walks past and lady says "Oh, look at the colour of that car. It's so weird!"

Is that a compliment? :D

Edit: Bought! Haha going to collect it this weekend. Part of the FGF gang!

Clearly I need to be faster... :(
