So Taylor and myself have had a little wager...

I am sure we can get the finished car, ready to run at Santa Pod with enough fuel for a few runs under 1,000kg excluding the driver.

Taylor thinks it's not possible and with the 1.8t and supporting mods it'll be 1,000kg or over, excluding the driver.

So the bet is on. :D

I don't suppose anyone has a stock 1.4mpi Fabia Classic that can be weighed as a base starting figure, just out of interest.

We seem to have butchered ours already.

I'm surprised you don't have another one LOL. Oh and would it have to be in FG too? Wouldn't want the extra layers of green weighing a bit extra on top to bias the result, if the Classic weighed wasn't in FG too of course. ;)

I know how eager Richard is to attack the FGF with an angle grinder, but there will still be alot of weight in that car, and under 1000kg with it all in there? ......

I am very skeptical :P

Being such a big fan of the MPI engine, my other two hatches are 16v.

The estate is an MPI.

With something as epic as a FGF Estate you just have to take what comes along...

I think it's possible however extra weight is being added by the cage, I'd bet that it'll be over 1000kg

This is the one with the poly-carbonate windows I'm assuming? Wasn't Ben looking to do some lightweight panels next... bonnet and boot would probably save the most weight.

Do a quick engine swap to drive it on to the corner scales?

Take the struts out and you really feel how heavy so yeah that could be a serious saving.

Do I assume using Lexan means no more "normal" window opening? :D

Yes, lexan windows (except screen) and a fibreglass bootlid.

Can't find my bonnet...

Did it go with the Autocross car?

Ben will be along shortly one hopes, be a nice saving of weight if it can be produced.

No idea.

Someone wanted it, but when I pulled it out it had been cracked.

Was going to patch it up but am now wondering if I threw it (unlikely) or as you say gave it to the guys from Austria that took the Autocross 4x4 Fabia.

Mars bar powered windows in the front drivers door, im not sure if we decided about the front passenger door.

Who needs that? I'd leave it without opening and get rid of passenger seat to save weight,

If it means I win the £5 there'll be no opening windows at all!

For the Pod it only needs one seat.

I'm off to find something rather light...

Looking into doing wings, bonnet and slam panel to start with then move on other models depending on interest. Starting with the mk1 fab first as mine car will be the guinea pig

Banana box upside down? :P

Currently there is nothing on that side, but if one decides to take passengers (in the Briski track day Spirit) then it maybe handy to have a seat. but regarding the windows, with no blower currently fitted, if it were to get too warm while driving you can drop both windows 15mm or so and get a cool breeze :)

You've fitted the scuttle still? :(
