  • Wow! A bit of a fly on the wall comment in jest has been turned into me supposedly taking the credit for the size of the thread!?! Err...ok...   Just to clarify, I have far more important things to

  • Apologies is this thread is going a bit "off topic", but I'll carry on anyway as there is Golf R content... This is my personal experience of the S3, Golf R and M135i and the respective test drives.

I would check out TG Sept edition on the 28 Hot Hatches. Don't think M135i got into their Top 6. But of course I'm biased ,as is TG journos/testers.

Read that one thanks Keith. I did know what the journos thought of my car before I bought it. It's like the recent Autocar test were they said the M235 was better than the Audi TTS even though it was flawed in so many areas. It's not the easiest car to live with compared to the modern 4x4 brigade, but that's partly why I love it.

50% of the year you can offset its short comings with your 4x4 2nd car

I suppose.

My 4x4 second car also carry's big stuff to the tip and goes to places I wouldn't want to take the BMW for 'security' reasons (mention no cities). In fact it will be in a dodgy bit of Manchester tonight doing it's thing, as I wouldn't want to leave the BMW there

Haha, did actually see a M135 auto on sale the other day. Not sure I can achieve that level of convincing though! Plus it's a bit small...

I'd also need a 5dr :D

And quite probably a lobotomy. It's not the sensible choice apparently :D

Kids love being stuffed into the back of a 3dr and the parents love the backbreaking effort required to install a baby seat in them too.

Was at the dealers today for my cars first year service.......would do it my self but wanted the "stamps"..

Anyway someone was collecting a nice new R hatch with a nice private plate & in Red the colour!

I always considered the red as a GTI colour, but the "R" looked good in it!.......still can't like the four exhausts though............

I think whilst VAG are firing 30 people for the emissions fiasco, they should fire the people behind the choice of those exhausts............

Exhausts are the best bit. Was just walking to a restaurant and a grey R pulled up at the lights. Wouldn't have known it was a R but for the Exhausts. Sounds so good.

Followed an R out of town earlier. It did just go well!

Somehow left me for dead in the T5 haha.

Haven't looked at their finance deals, think it is VW Finance PCP as they use dealers to supply.

Drive the deal is the cheapest around for a R closely followed by carfile.net

I was jet comparing standard Audi n VW prices

Interesting :http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/vw-golf-r-vs-audi-rs4-comparison

Had great fun driving my Partner's B in L's R estate in the Derbyshire countryside, great fun but not up to the mark of the manual hatch imo.

However, not far off but fantastic useable space. DSG pretty good as well.

Keith have you ever used the 'Link' button so you can write your own custom text for a link? As it stands your links come up as http://www.possible car interesting.......stuff etc I know you like to posts links, but it would honestly help us to decide whether the article you have posted on is of interest, or appropriate for our needs.

As in The Best Car in the World or some such

as opposed to

Which in your post means you can't really tell what the link is

Not having a go at you, just think it would help the rest of us

If you were tying to use the link button. simple copy the web address and then write your link line ie I love Golf Rs, then highlight the appropriate bit, press the Link button and paste your web link into it. Once saved, the words you chose to describe the link will take us to the link :)

Keith - what did you mean to link to here? Looks like a direct link to one of your personal emails, if I was a betting man! :)

Cheers Wardy, It was a photo from my phone e-mailed to me, so obviously not coming out correctly, so have now deleted.

It is a plan view shot of my R and my missus's B in L's R Estate, side by side.I will try and sort it later.
