New Golf R

Featured Replies

I like your neighbours must be an interesting sounding morning when they leave for work!

haha, he had a GT-R and a V8 Range Rover before the RS6 Landed so its always been interesting!

Next door but one has a Aston V8 Vantage too and there is a Maserati a few doors up!  So I probably don't have too much to worry about if I leave my car unlocked lol.

  • Apologies is this thread is going a bit "off topic", but I'll carry on anyway as there is Golf R content... This is my personal experience of the S3, Golf R and M135i and the respective test drives.

You don't need the R to impress/annoy what you need to get is a Dacia, total opposite end of the spectrum...........

or an old Lada.............& rat rust look................... :x

Sounds like a nice interesting street jrw :)

There was an RS6 Avanti thing up the road from me but he seems to have moved, sounded awesome.

A friend of a friend took delivery of his 65 plate "R" today, in pure white with 19" Pretoria's. Ordered back in February!

Haha, it's great to be fair. Then at work we have r8, Ferrari 458, Mercedes s63 amg so I'm surrounded by super cars!

Going out in the rs6 this weekend for a spin so that should be good.

I'll be getting the R in oryx white with the 19 inch wheels and dynamic chassis control, well in fact every option apart from the two extra doors and the leather. If I don't get the rs3 that is ;)

Jealous, my wife won't let me too near other cars, she knows what I'm like.

Are people getting dealers to match prices from other dealers on Carwow? Can get a 5 door DSG in Oynx white (£960 paint job) and tinted windows for £29935 from a dealership down south. The funny thing is that used cars are more expensive. Seen a 3 month old car with 7,000 miles on the clock which has prob been in the red line since it's first use!

If i ordered the car now could i say to them i don't want it to be ready until March and they would be ok with that? Reason i ask is i don't have the money now but will have around late Jan/Feb but would rather wait an extra month for the new plates in March?

Used cars (Ex Demonstrators) might be advertised for much more money because somebody might go in and pay the Asking Price or near it.

But that is what they would love to get, and they might do, but it is not what you might need to pay or offer to buy the car the Dealer got cheaper, have had Tax Benefits on it as a Demonstrator and actually keep the Advertised Used prices advertised high to give the impression of not being Depreciating Disasters, and not having Glass / Parkers etc showing the true values of them used.

The Volkswagen / Audi way is to try and make vehicles look rare and desirable,

but right now Dealers might need to punt some cars, because cash flow might become an issue rather soon.

I doubt whether VAG are unique in that regard George.

All manufacturers globally are out for bottom line results, hence employ similar sales tactics and kidology.

Not unique to the Golf R me thinks.

Buyers market right now, as it always is.

Do your VW , Audi, Skoda, Seat Dealership a favour right now, and maybe go and give them an opportunity to sell you a car they have in stock at a reasonable price.

It will allow them to help the VWG by ordering in something from the stock they have sitting already built but that they need to get some money for.

Dropping my daughter off today I was facing straight at a plate glass window and my lights were on (grey day here).

Noticed the dipped beam is on the outer of the 2 lights and then flashed main beam and the outer light unit shutter lifts to give full light.

What are the glowing inner lights in the other bit for/doing?

A little help from abroad for you:

Well after 1 day it's like London Buses.

After yesterday's spotting of the 1st local R Estate. today gave rise to my first R coincidental meet up at the main roundabout that intersects Devizes - Trowbridge & Melksham - Westbury ,3 R's - 2 white and my blue. All acknowledge one another. Yes a meeting of RRRs,(Arses)on a great driving weather day in Wilts.

You should try and get a local R meet going :-)

Still only seen about 5 or 6 R's in 14 months of ownership. Soooo common ;)

Tom,

Prior to this weekend I was lucky to see one in a month.

Not sure how many of those were local, as personalized registrations ,also may be they were out to catch a good driving weekend prior to winter setting in.

Is there a good mix of spec or are they mostly bog standard ones?

Sam,a Real mix of spec and prices and mileages. £26k to £39k Some Pre-Reg delivery mileage at reasons /negotiable discount.
