Leasing. The figures won't mean anything as they are NHS specific and tied in to salary, Had a quick look at one today when I booked the diseasal in for a service. Blue needles look good, carbon upholstery looks a bit pants though, can't get excited about it like you lot on here,,. but nice enough..

Black leather looks best in my view.

I know another member on here, that is in the process of doing a great deal. Both him and his missus might be driving one each within 6 months.

whilst I thoroughly enjoy driving it, it's not an entirely emotional connection. TBH AWD would change that, in fact it might make it less so. The problem is they are devoid of any real personality or character.

I'm totally confused. I was suggesting you try a Fiesta ST if you fancied something with more of a connection.

Wasn't it Steve who wanted more of a connection? :D I'm confused yet again  need a lie down

I think we all want more of a connection but that's a whole different thread. Steve, Keith, whoever else I may have mentioned unintentionally... Just for you...

Haha I think Keith thought you'd actually bought an ST lol!

ha ha I thought he was being sarcastic as the thread was about to be derailed :D A bit like this. I am so confused now, I've almost gone full circle and understand what's going on.............just not quite

I think he knows a thing or two, about owning, driving and experiencing exotic motors with bags of multi cylinder grunt.

So value his opinion on motors, as a noted Petrol head.. ( Oh!  Clarkson liked it too but that's History.)

There’s not the merest hint or twitch of veering to the left and right, thanks to the genius of a very clever piece of innovation VW has developed.

It’s a switching system that at slow speeds directs the drive to the front wheels, helping to both reduce fuel consumption and increase ease of driving, but then when you open her up – hey ka-boom and hey presto – the drive is magically transferred to the rear, after which it’s plain sailing.

I know what you mean Steve. but I guess I am as guilty s the next person in this regard. R's, S3s and to a large degree, the M lites, are all mighty quick, but I suspect not as much fun as the Toyobaru Gt86 car. I could have saved money and gone for that, rather than the BMW. But it's just too tempting to have a fast car that is grippy, relatively economical, sophisticated in the way it goes down the road etc that it's easy to lose sight of what really matters. Probably the most fun car I ever owned was my X1/9. 85bhp and if I remember correctly on Michelin ZX 165s. Truly hopeless in the wet and not that much better in the dry. It was great fun though. It handled beautifully, but lacked grip. the right way round as long as it's safe. but then I started to get cars that were more impressive in the speed department. Lancias, Fiats, Clio 16V, Imprezas etc and I guess I lost track of what counts. I am hoping the M lite will give me some of this back (at a cost of all weather performance and ultimate cross country times), but it still isn't a purists car.

I didn't have a long enough drive in an R to know it true character, but if I could have done a quick back to back with it, the M lite and the Toyabru, it would be quite possible I would enjoy the slow car the most.

My next car will probably be safer still, but then again, I'm getting old :D

I must admit, I have thought about something like a Monaro.

Talking of which, I was at Cairngorm ski-ing yesterday (very good snow) & saw & heard :o  a Monaro vxr8 ??..................basically the hi-performance "Ute" version of the saloon.......... in the car park,.....

...So that's two doors, two seats, V8, rear wheel drive, & a fecking huge load area with big solid "double bubble" type load cover! So another car which beats the M135I based on the carp rear seats & boot space, Oh & probably more "fun" to hoon around the corners than the M135I too!!

Back OT............. :giggle: ................if you are looking at getting any Golf remember to get the Dynaudio soundsystem.............scared myself with the low clear bass whilst playing the "Country grammar" album by Nelly.............

I can stay on topic for once, so a  VW. AWD, 4 door, load carrying.

Then a Ford,  2 door, Sound, Traction, Space. Load Carrying, Ski Centre, Automotive Porn.

'Which would you rather own?'

This will do me thanks, reminder of similar Wiltshire country roads in Spring :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iivQh96E18

Oh! with less potholes!

There was a nice Holden on the second hand bit of Fifth Gear recently. I actually drove and sold a couple of Holdens back in the early noughties. We had a LWB version and a standard car. In some ways they are disappointing to drive. They didn't sound as V8'y as you wold hope and were surprisingly refined. The interior is pretty much high end Vauxhall bits and the handling, although a bit laree, was very wieldy. Overall I was disappointed in the car as I had built up so much expectation. Mind you how you compare one to an M135^^ God only knows :D :D :D

Perhaps stever750 should have started the new thread, as suggested.
