  • Wow! A bit of a fly on the wall comment in jest has been turned into me supposedly taking the credit for the size of the thread!?! Err...ok...   Just to clarify, I have far more important things to

  • Apologies is this thread is going a bit "off topic", but I'll carry on anyway as there is Golf R content... This is my personal experience of the S3, Golf R and M135i and the respective test drives.

But don't hold your breath, I'd want something different to a used Golf for my money, even if it has got 300bhp

Anyway, I'm just off to put a £5 steak on the Grand National

Sorry,Sometimes that happens if they have sold it. It's showing at Chester VW dealer and is on the VW used website.£27290

Burgers are only worth having if they're Aberdeen Angus burgers

Keith, have you considered a thread in the non-Skoda members cars section.

That's where my ST etc.... are.

Just a thought.

Or an "interesting links" thread as you seem to find a lot.

As the previous 'R' thread has sadly closed and as a person with a genuine interest in the car, I sincerely hope that only constructive posts are placed in this thread from now on.

The link Bryan posted has loads of info, far more than you'll ever get on a Skoda forum.

This isn't being negative BTW.

I was going to reply to some cost calcs in the old thread but found it "locked"............so here goes.........

VW UK got the base price of the R estate wrong & IMO............

Comparing the same engine/gearbox/trim the estate cost circa £680-£700 more than the 5dr hatch..........until you get to the R.....

£33,585 for estate..........£32,220 for the 5dr DSG hatch.......................difference of £1,365...............bloody stupid VW UK............want to charge even more & rip people off......... :swear: ........idiots!!!................ :@

BTW I noticed in this weeks Autocar mag that they have an R on long term now...........also even they state that the M135i & A45AMG are its competition & the R stacks up very well for it's sheer grip...................

Not sure how my picture of a Golf R was in any way negative or off topic, just a bit disappointed as a lot of effort went into it, but hey ho, I'm over it now :D

Just a general chat enquiry

How many Golf R owners are there actually on Briskoda who can chat with any experience on the marque?

ok don't own an R (have driven mk7) but do the spannerwork on & have driven my mates MK4 R32.........also owned VW's for 21ys................VW's in family since 1982 with a MKI Golf.....& I've worked on all seven MK's of Golf, various Polos,...........etc. etc................

I really like General Chat on Briskoda, it means there is no need to go to other forums to see other Manufacturers Products,

news on cars, new cars and various subjects.

Sad that the same members try to spoil threads, get them locked and the likes.

You do not have to own them to have driven them, experienced them, and have an interest in them,

be looking at getting the next development of them in the form of the estate.

The first post mentions 'prospective' owners too - I'm in that group so would only like to read things of interest as I mentioned earlier.

I really can't see why people are so 'anti R' - after all, this is Briskoda and not SCN!

I am seeing a lot more recently and really like them in the purpleish colour. It would be interesting to see how they compare to something like the new RS Focus.

Hmmm.. I didn't think I was.

It just seemed to me that you talking about your car or models closely linked to it (such as the estate) fitted in better with the non-Skoda Briskoda member's cars section.

You could have as much chat in there you liked and not being here it might get left alone as those that have made negative comments seem a bit fed up of loads of advertising and links about a car 99.9% of Briskoda members don't own.

Because it doesn't seem to be a bit of info in general car chat.  It's a car you own and there are going to be loads of posts about it.  And links.  So I thought it fitted in there better.

I have not tried to corrupt the thread at all IMO.

I've already seen several posts deleted.  None of them have been mine.

I was trying to offer some constructive advice.

Arguably the thread about the M135i should also be moved to the owner's cars section.  As that's just a thread about a car he owns too.

But as I said, I am trying to help, I'm not the forum police.
