I didn't know it could do that!

Featured Replies

I guess I'm weird then, because I download and read manuals for fun:D  (And never buy anything electric/mechanical without reading the manual first.)

Only joking! The Mrs has never read a manual in her life, on the way home with her Rapid she was asking me what this or that did, how to adjust the heater, lights etc. She still has not tried Sports Mode!

Must say that the Skoda manual is not the most user friendly one I have come across...

Nor is the menu structure.

Press the set button to decrease by 1 when at cruising speed.

Haven't really noticed the memory buttons being vague, but then I've not needed to change the memory for months! Is a little annoying that it doesn't actually return to the lowest position it can be no matter how many times I set it.

Mine came with Pirelli P7s which seem ok at the moment.

Glad you're enjoying it though, loving mine too :)

Pull back the handle to increase by 1 when active.

I noticed the other morning, you don't need to hold the key while the engine is cranking. With the clutch down just flick it to start and let go,the engine then cranks untill it starts.

I've found that, and The day after driving the Octy, I seemed incapable of starting my transporter van :-(

If you stall it, it restarts itself when you press the clutch in too :-)

Long-term MPG which resets itself after (about) 2300 miles. How annoying is that!

I'll think you will find it is time related ...........

I thought you set the long term period in infotainment, and it can be set as high as 10k km iirc.

I have no idea. It came with "NEXEN Nblue HD"s.

Nexen are a Finnish brand I believe. I bet your dealer fitted them & they aren't ex-factory

They certainly aren't. It appears to be Korean.

all octys with 16''rims in Greece come with nexen tyres here in Greece whereas 17'' rims come with dunlops-michelins or bridgestone.that happens to many VW's as well-mostly polos and golfs and they are factory fitted.

Here (Italy) a something similar situation: Nexxen on 16" spare wheel (I raised a claim on that) being it a very cheap korean brand, while on my 17" I have Dunlops.

Ah.... that might explain it.  Still annoying as it's spoiled my long term MPG, most of which was on a 1600 mile cruise to the Pyrenees.

Ta. I'll have a look later

I think you mean Nokian.  They are very good tyres. Heard of Nexen but I tend to avoid less well known names and put my trust in known brands (why save £20 a tyre on a £20k car?)

Mine came with Nexens too. Haven't tried them yet as am still on winters but I did read somewhere that they're not a bad tyre. I'm also not too worried about the non-main-brand summer tyres. All is not always as it seems in the tyre world. There are a number of manufacturers who allow third party companies to use their "big name" brand under licence, whilst the actual tyre quality is little different to that which the third party company might sell under their own label. It's quite possible that the very same (or very similar) "tyre recipe" is served up as both "Nexen" and "<insert big brand name here>". I'm trusting that Skoda has cut corners with the branding rather than the tyre quality.

Manufacturers just fit tyres based on who offers the cheapest price for what they want.

I'd just prefer not to be surprised in an emergency avoidance situation. Going to visit the dealer tomorrow, we'll have to see how much extra they want for swapping the tires for a name brand.

I'm thinking of Nokian - sorry, my mistake.  Have I got that right?  Nokian are Finnish?

Nokian are Finnish, Yes and make great winter tyres.

Been are budget and I'd be pretty unimpressed to see them on a brand new car.

Hmmm.  I found an option to reset the counters but not to change when they automatically reset.  Either I'm getting old a blind (which I am - well, the former, anyway) or it's not there on the Bolero.  Would you mind having a look on yours and pointing me in the right direction please?

Yup, better safe than sorry. Will be interested to hear how you get on and what the "upgrade" cost is.

I have Nexen Npriz 4s tyres on my Octy 3. They're all season tyres. They worked brilliantly on the snow we had recently but also work fine in normal weather. Not had any grip issues so far.

They're a lot quieter than the Dunlop Sportmaxx that came as standard. Fuel efficiency also seems better.

Before I put them on I did research. Many posts on various forums and tyre review sites seemed to rate these tyres, and Nexen tyres in general, quite highly. I will certainly be buying them again.

Hmm, looks like I was mistaken. Page 27 of the manual says long term memory is 99 hours 59 minutes or 9999 km, whichever is soonest. I can't see any details on changing that..... I could have sworn there was... But no. Sorry.

No worries.  I could have read the manual too, to be fair :)

The dealers estimate was 200 € for swapping them for Continentals and 65 € for the work...so not exactly cheap. But they'll swap them in place of the winters for the same money so I don't have to break my back doing the work myself...so I'm going in on friday to have the work done.
