New Brake pads & discs

Featured Replies

Brakes on my dads octavia vrs are coming to the point of needing a change so looking at what pads and discs other people use.

We have always used Delphi pads and discs but he is wanting to improve the performance of them without doing a full big brake conversion.

What pads and discs would anyone care to suggest?

I've just changed my heavily corroded rear discs and pads .

I will be changing the front very soon.

I used nitrac discs which are very good quality and resist corrosion a little better than normal discs.

Using tarox 114 rear pads and Carbon Lorraine Rc5+ on the front.

My front pads and discs were changed this weekend. I was able to source OEM ones for £130.

I purchased grooved(40) discs and Greenstuff pads from the Brake Depot, Chesterfield. Definitely recommend.

Redstuff pads also good upgrade for a vrs

Much different between green stuff and red stuff?

Pagid from ECP. Cheaper than OEM and a little better IMHO.

Green stuff is for normal driving really where red stuff are suppose to take a bit longer to get to temp but don't fade as fast with heavy hard breaking . Had them on about 3 of my cars with drilled & grooved discs

Thanks all, Will inform the parents next time I see them.

He can make the decision on what he wants to go for but all your input will make him consider something different to Delphi

Be careful when getting the discs and make sure you get the right size.

I say that because most places are selling the wrong size for the rears so take the time to measure them to be 100% sure.

fitted Mintex 312mm discs and Mintex pads last weekend on my 07 VRS tdi. £66 off Ebay.

easy enough to fit, although I did think 21mm was a random size for the caliper carriers!

Shouldn't have any issues he used to be a mechanic and we still do loads of car stuff :)
