HID H7 Kits for Fabia with Projector Headlights

Featured Replies

The new HID bulb needs to go in the holder then it goes back into the car exactly as it came out just with a nice shiny new bulb on it.

Like you said, once you have the kit in front of you it all becomes a lot clearer.

I have SMD side lights, the CREE ones gave me a bit of bother and I'm happy with the SMD. They colour match very well with the 6000k.

My DRL'S are my favourite though.....

you have cleared that up completely, i have my head around it properly now, instead of it being attached to the plug it now attaches to the HID bulb and twists into place? :)

I have a vRS so my sidelights in the main beam housing dont work... what bulbs did you replace your DRLs with? theyre bright!!

  • This should help clear up a few confusions about "how hard it looks" or "where does this wire go".   My kit arrived a moment ago, and in this pic I've laid it all out nice and neat. You have the 2x

  • It's not the ballast that is the problem, like I said they were both sides secure on the slam panel already at this stage. It's the bulb. For some reason I just can't get these new holders to twist in

  • These are the pictures you REALLY want to see!   Can you tell which one is the Monte?          And my personal favourite...     I do have a couple of snaps of dipped & main beam

Do you have a pic with your HIDs on...?

personally i just wanted pure white light, with no blue shining through.. thats all, plus i really want it to be as normal looking as possible. so i may be able to get it through MOT without them noticing haha.

i used code: SOCIAL5

Why would it fall am MOT? You can have HID kits. All bulbs are aftermarket and as long as they are 'e' approved you should have no issues.

This has been done to death, the MOT guidelines are ambiguous to say the least. It just states that with HID bulbs in place then "headlight levellers and washers where fitted should be in working order" the key loop hole here is the wording 'where fitted'

Also. 4300 or 5000k is closest to oem. 6000k turns a little more blue, and 8000k can be found in most 17 year olds saxo's.

The higher up the k's you get, the less visible light you get on the road.

I opted for 5000k. And im happy with it :).

I know all of this, most fail till this is mentioned, i just know there were issues with evo 7s i think getting them through an MOT as they were never fitted with the above.

im sure if i did end up failing and the tester was being a tit i could just swap them over in half an hour to get it through..

i just want it to be as OE looking as possible. that was my intention.

I was under the impression hid kita werent 'e' approved? Because they cant, without knowing what type of headlight its going to be fitted too?

I could well be wrong there

I second that. Went to my MOT centre yesterday to get my lights levelled and asked him about the HIDs. He said they don't care if you have the HIDs of any other stuff as long as the light is bright and levelled properly. That's why I decided to invest se money into the HID kit and going to buy one. I'm not going to argue with anyone who says the HIDs are illegal cos that's not the case. They also can't check what bulbs you using as they won't even try to take them out and chec if these are "E" marked. As long as these are working and bright enough so you can see during the night you fine...;)

So you reckon I should ditch the 6000k idea ad go with 5000k...?

Thanks Otaylor38! Will be getting mine from dealer if I ever need them.

That's one picture I don't have, I'll get on to it tomorrow on my day off.......actually I may have one......

I have got 50w CREE in my DRL'S, they are not cheap though but I figured they are the ones that are on most so why not splash out [emoji2]

I thought the. Bulbs were approved but the kits weren't, I'll need to check now and see.

Its all personal choice mate. My picture has 5000k hids in it. Albeit, its not a very good picture haha

If you want, I'll go out and take a pic in a moment.. You might get more of an idea of the colour in daylight. Might not baffle my phone camera so much haha.

Edit: iv found a picture i took a few weeks ago, but it wont let me upload photos on here. I dont know why :(. Just says upload failed

Pic of yours would be great...

If youd like to PM me your e-mail address id be more than happy to send some pics over

Id like to post them here but it wont work lately :(

My father bought me an hid kit for Christmas, he had the too long to return them for a different temperature so thought what the hey, fit them anyway.

Looking directly at them they are quite blue, but light on the road is fairly white. The last pic shows the standard 507 next to the hid.

I will look at changing them at some point for a lower temp but as I've never had complaints, pulls or flashes from others or police I'm in no rush. There still better than the standard H7s!

Also, I'm not 17 or a chav of any sort! lol.

Looking good. Do you know the brand and what temp are these...?

If this means anything to anyone, I did an airport run in the early hours the other morning and decided I needed an upgrade. Ordered the HID Direct kit in 5k, and will be putting them in as soon as they arrive. I can take any pics of installation, befores and afters etc. They should be here Tomorrow or Friday :)

If anyone wants a pic requesting let me know?

Yes pics. would be great.

Yes Please...Pics would be great...!!! Where did you get your Kit from...? and how much was it if you don't mind me asking...?

Ta, Matty

Matty,

I got these http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/h7-canbus-pro-hid-xenon-conversion-35w-kit/ and used the discount code "SOCIAL5" (Only 5% off but it took a couple quid off). As I said I went for 5k. I know the page doesn't show it as for a certain model, but if you use the navigation on left and select Fabia Mk2 it does direct to that product.

Order came to £51.39 all in with the £2 shipping I paid (which I deemed reasonable). I haven't bought any replacement parts however, i'll just modify my current ones as the bulb holder just needs a snip out of it and the back covers i'll tape up well afterwards and get another pair ordered as spare when i'm next at the dealer.
