I started with my first car at the age of 23 in 1996 whilst living near Seattle.  The longest I've owned a car is just over six and a half years - the Octavia vRS.  The shortest I've owned a car for is two weeks due to it being written off - the Maestro.

Here's the list.  My current car is the fastest but the 106 was the most fun.

1980 Mk1 VW Rabbit diesel

1982 Austin Maestro 1.6l

1989 Fiat Panda

1985 Capri Lazer 1.6

1994 Citroen AX 1.5 Diesel

1982 Ford Capri 2.0s

1983 Ford Capri 2.8i

1979 Ford Capri 3.0s

1977 Ford Capri 1.3l

2002 Ford Ka

1983 Mk1 Golf GTi

1995 Nissan 200sx S14

1979 Ford Capri 3.0s with genuine Xpack

1981 Ford Capri 2.8i

2004 Citroen C2 GT

2006 Skoda Octavia vRS

2005 Honda FRV 2.2 diesel

1994 S1 106 Rallye

2005 Suzuki Ignis Sport

2009 Vauxhall Vectra VXR

Forgot to add my dream car.  I've always said it'd be an Evo VIII.  Not sure why really but I reckon that'd do me as a daily driver.  If we're talking family car for hauling the five of us & stuff around, the RS6 would be a nice choice.

I get bored very easily.

I'm the same, and I used to buy and sell a bit, so I'll just list the daily drivers that I can remember right now.

1987 Fiat Panda

1983 VW Polo

1989 AX GT

1991 VW Polo GT

1993 Ford Escort

1989 Bedford Rascal

1984 VW Polo Coupe

1998 Ford Escort

1989 Toyota Camry V6

1996 Vectra

1993 Transit

1999 Transit (ex-RAC)

1987 VW Polo Coupe S

1990 VW Golf GTI 8v (for one week - bored the crap out of me)

1987 VW Scirocco

2002 Corsa

1998 Felicia Pickup

Now just going onto a 1999 Mondeo

I'd do a full list, but we'd be well over 100.

"Dream car" doesn't really work for me, I do a huge number of miles for work, so cars are consumables sadly.

On my part cars have cost me a fortune.

A lot of bad decisions along the way

Focus st3 was the worst choice which i am still actually paying for.

With my outgoings. £530 a month i could be rolling about in an m3 instead of a bloody 320d

Just out of interest Jase, why was that such a bad decision/car?

30mpg on a run.

Mid to low 20's combined, just bled me dry pretty much.

Then it had a problem with the oil filter housing that made it sound like a UFO that the dealer wanted nothing to do with.

Turning circle was horrendous, just paying too much for a car that was essentially a bit of a slug.

I sold it after a month

I agree with the petrol matters in the St focus. It's interesting to see and hear now how much better the new st is.

That said you should try a s4 for petrol!!! Not the best at all but I knew that when I bought it and was prepared to be on first name terms at the local petrol station!!!

Blimey, I am almost too embarrassed to list all the cars I have owned, as there is now over 100. I have kept a record of every car me/wife (for wife BTW read me) have owned since 17 to now - aged 62 going on 18.

I just love cars, no excuses just the truth, and get very bored easily. Ended up on the Briskoda forum as had a Yeti a couple of years ago, and liked it so much, so still keep an eye on all things Skoda.

Not going to list all of them (and bore everyone), but a quick flavour -

1st car at 17 in 1969 - Ford Anglia 105E Van (paid £45).

Current cars - Toyota Auris Estate and Suzuki Splash (it's an age thing - honest!)

In between and worthy of note (and in no particular order):

Mini 1275 GT

ERA Mini (Turbo)

MK 1 Mini (Turbocharged)

BMW Mini Cooper S  "Works"

Sierra Cosworth.

Jag XJ6 (x2)

VW Lupo GTi

Mazda 4x4 Turbo (very rare car now).

Nissan 200SX

Toyota MR2 MK1 (x 3)

Toyota MR2 Mk 2 (x 2)

Ford XR2 (Mk1 & MK 2)

Ford Escort MK 1

Chevrolet Corvette

Mazda B2200 truck (imported from USA )

Subaru Impreza (x 2)

Daimler/Jag MK2 (V8)

Suzuki Jeep Van (Supercharged )

Suzuki Jeep (Turbocharged)

Suzuki Jeep (fitted with Swift GTi engine)

Skoda Yeti (of course - and still miss it)

VW California camper

Not so worthy of a mention:

Allegro (my first new car - and fitted with the now infamous "Quartic" steering wheel)

Fiat Strada (Arghhhh!)

Lost a fortune over the years, but hey - life is too short to worry about such matters.

My philosophy in life is ..........."Never wait or hesitate, get in kid before it's too late, you may never get another chance" (Rod Stewart - Killing of Georgie part 1).

Short list for my short driving career.

2010 - 51 reg Skoda Octavia 1.4 classic, clocked 43K miles in 10 months...

2011 - 05 reg Seat Ibiza 1.4 tdi, spent far too much on this only to put it in a ditch at 20mph.... Black ice!!

2013 - 04 reg Skoda Fabia VRS, best car I've owned by a long shot, no plans of getting rid anytime soon but plenty of plans to spend a lot more money on it, hopefully it won't fall victim to black ice this time!

Dream car: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 roadster, or more achievable, Nissan Skyline R34 GTR

My car history as follows

Morris Marina

VW Polo

Rover 213

Austin Maestro x 2

Rover Metro

Vauxhall Astra Mk 2

Vauxhall Cavalier

Rover 214

Vauxhall Astra x 2 (company cars)

Vauxhall Vectra

Skoda Octavia Mk 2 1.9 elegance combi

Skoda Octavia Mk 2 vrs fl combi

Skoda Superb Greenline 3 Combi

Favourite to date my second Astra estate company car, fond memories of a job I enjoyed and some great trips across Europe, not the best car in the world, but connected with a good time in life.

Worst the Rover Metro, leaked like a sieve was replaced by Rover by one that leaked even more.

Some great lists with a few of us really showing our age!

Mine is as follows:

Ford fiesta 950 popular - my first and still favourite.

Pug 1.6 205 GTI - better than the 1.9

Renault Clio RSI - still don't know why I bought this.

Pug 205 GTI 1.9 - Scary

Subaru impreza turbo 2000 - loved this car

Subaru impreza WRX (bug eye)

Subaru impreza WRX STi - great car unless you had a bad back or piles

B7 Audi S4 avant - loved it and would have kept it longer than the 3 years that I had it but almost £600 a month on fuel started to wear a bit thin!

2006 Octavia vrs - great to drive but gave me nothing but bother - Friday afternoon car, I reckon

2012 B8 S4 avant black edition - the best car I have had, brilliant.

I'm surprised at how many cars some people have had although I guess this a car forum after all.  My list is relatively short though:

Rover Metro 1.1S

Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI 90 GLX

Seat Toledo 1.9 TDI 150 Sport (my favourite of the cars I've had)

Skoda Octavia VRS TDI

Mazda 6 2.5 Sport

I do worry that my cars are too boring particularly with the last two both being estates although their main function these days is to carry bikes or the dog.

I'm not even sure what my dream car would be these days as I feel a bit more realistic about it...probably something like an RS6 Avant which could cruise the length of the country in comfort but be hurtled round a track.

At 17 and just passed my test my Dad bought me a 1960 Ford Thames 100E van, 3 gears and a 1172cc sidevalve engine. After that-

1965 Simce 1100.    Yuk Yuk Yuk

1961 Ford Anglia 1000 De Luxe.     Wonderful car.

1966  Ford Anglia  1200 Super.  a few more horse power but dull.

1961  Ford Anglia 1000 De Luxe.  Yes I bought it back again as it was so good.

1969  Ford Cortina 2000XL estate.   Family time.

1972 Morris Marina TC coupe.    Oh dear, what was I thinking about.

1973  Hillman Hunter GLS. Yes it's the Holbay engine model

1980  Ford Capri 3.0S.    Tail Happy, first of the drifters cars.

1981  Ford Cortina Mk4 2.0S.    sensible all rounder.

1986  Austin Maestro 1.6HLS.  A backward step.

1990  MG Maestro 2.0   Surprisingly good but rust killed it.

1990 Daimler Sovereign XJ6 Series 3,  Now we're talking, proper long distance cruiser.

1991 Jaguarsport XJS 6.0.    All the toys and speed.  my local garages favourite customer.

1996 Peugeot 106 1.0 Inca. Thrifty days are back, got divorced.

2000 Peugeot 206 1.1GLS.   Still no money, married again. Body made of tin foil.

2002 Golf mk4 TDI130. On the up again, wonderful first VAG car for me.

1998 Seat Arosa 1.0.   Stop gap car the girls in my family liked.

2003 Skoda Fabia VRS.  You guessed it, my favourite car of all time.

2002 Renaultsport Clio 172. another stop gap car that became my track car for a couple of years, Top hot hatch I liked.

2007 Toyota Auris T180.  Why did I buy this?  30mpg, uncomfortable.

2006 Audi A3 S Line Sportback TDI 140.  Back among the living and lots of toys, frugal, great family car and tow barge.

Also had loads of Triumph Spitfires, Herald convertables, Triumph 2000 which I restored over the years.  A Westfield for the track is my latest hobby and track car.

Currently hankering for a V8 such as a Monaro, VXR8.

Dream car at the moment is the Merc E63, funnily enough it has a V8, what a coincidence
