fabia idle'ing differently

Featured Replies

hi guys,

my little fabia is idle'ing wrong it slightly goes from about 8,000-9,000 revs all on its own when idle'ing

does anyone have any possible causes?

the car is a 1.4 petrol

could it just need clean/new sparks

Unfortunately this is considered 'normal' for this engine, even mine does it on the odd occasion, it can be down to a dirty throttle body if it happens a lot. You should change the spark plugs and leads if it has them if they haven't been changed for a long time, spark plug/lead life is only about two years or 20000 miles.

Yeah, it's quite normal for the MPI engine. They don't have plug leads either, the coil pack just pushes onto the plugs. I took my throttle body off and gave it a good clean with throttle body cleaner. However, it was hardly even dirty and it made no difference to the idle. I've got used to it now though.
