Decided against the copart Fabias as I'm already up to 3 at 17! So I've loosened the dash and it slides off on the passenger side just got to find what holds it on on the drivers side however I don't want to damage the airbag when removing it!

Just make sure that the battery is off before unplugging the airbags!

Don't worry it's all off! Is there a knack to pulling steering wheel airbag out?

turn the steering wheel so that one of the "forks" of the steering wheel are pointing upwards (i.e. turn the wheel 90 degrees from the dead ahead position), there are two springs which hold the air bag on, then get a screwdriver inbetween the back of the steering wheel and the dash cluster, so that the tip of the screw driver is pointing towards the drivers seat, unhook the spring

turn the wheel 180 degrees and repeat, then the airbag should come away.

Through the little holes on the back?

Cheers :) it's getting there very slowly! Issue is I can't be bothered to put the parts in the loft till more are out so the rest of the car is just full of parts now :notme:

I couldn't be bothered to remove the steering wheel to get the dash out as I'm lazy but it's out :) just the heater to come out next

And it won't let me upload a picture

Are you going to strip out all the doors and remove all the metal you don't need, or leave it vaguely civilised?

I figured you don't need much more than door skins...

  • Author

Me? Civilised? I've got the Clio for that! It's all coming off when I get the time and manage to empty the car of it's own parts! It will be just the door skins but first I'm cracking on with heater removal when I've read Taylor's guide

 Taylor's guide

I have a guide? :D I didnt write that ;)

Thanks for that it's been absolutely brilliant! Had the dash off in no time after reading where the fixing points were!
