I'm happy now the interior is stripped down to absolutely nothing and I'm very happy! It's how I want it! Put the front two seats back in temporarily, very happy with it now! Going to bolt the instrument cluster to the crash bar :) dropped the headlining off! Just need to get something to replace the heavy sunroof which has stickers from an Octy on it!

Decided to keep the standard steering wheel :giggle: I'm removing airbag from the cover and then going to find a way of clipping cover back on!

I know I said I wasn't going to bother with the copart Fabia but I bid up to £250 then called it enough and lost :)

If it didn't have a 1.8 in it you don't need it!

No I was going to rebuild it as a 1.2 for a runabout!

Finished work early today! Not that there is ever sod all to do no matter what day!

The Fabia interior strip down is now complete apart from, Perspex windows which will also see the doors lightened! Perspex on the sunroof and thinning out the wiring which will probably be done with the rest of the wiring when the engine goes in!

Looked at a glass grommet for the de wiper mod! £25???? Not paying that so two repair washers, a bolt and some touch up paint later all was sorted! Did the same with the Aerial! re9urepe.jpg

Photo of the interior now it's stripped down but now I'm just using it as temporary storage so excuse the mess! uby8usa9.jpg

I then did this to the towing eye cover! To keep it kind of OEM looking! 3y5yjuvy.jpg

Ohh okay! In the morning I will! Was trying to keep it OEM old lady style but nah I'll go all out on weight loss :)

Still got a bit of weight to come from the doors?

Yup, Perspex windows going in, chopping door supports out and removing the plates :) and sunroof too

Nice, will be proper loud in the cabin once your done.

What weight are you aiming for?

  • Author

Stock it weighs 1129Kg I'd be happy with about 950Kg but obviously as light as it will go!

Does anyone know if a vRS bumper is lighter?

Does anyone know if a vRS bumper is lighter?

I doubt it because its bigger and plus you will give the game away

Yeah I don't mind losing the discretion side if I'm given a valuable weight loss but it doesn't seem so so I won't :) it might get some lightweight alloys but that's about it

Remove some of the trim inside the bumper and make a wide mouth. Will remove a bit of weight

Cheers :)

And add some holes to your crash bar if you fit a front mount inter cooler. Allows more air flow and saves a bit more weight

I'm also thinking of substituting the interior crash bar for a piece of thinner metal I've got lying about :)
