Fabia mk1 1.8T RWD

Thanks, seems quite involved. I would offer my bonnet, but it's far from perfect unfortunately :(

the female mould should be abled to be tidied up a bit if there are any defects, dont forget a chip in your paint will come up as a bump on the female mould, which surely could be sanded down flat with the rest of the female mould

what about double skinned panels?

for example the tailgate from the fabia has two layers the outer and then the inner is a basic frame to hold the tailgate liner, boot lock etc on. obviously in this case you wouldnt fit the tailgate liner or non essential parts.

but non the less if you were recreating a tailgate, is there a way you could bond (some kind of glue?) the two layers together to make it more representative of the OEM part?

Locking pins would do on a track car not sure about your daily drivers though

My bonnet came from a chap in Germany I think who races rallycross Fabias.  It was the only panel he had which was like oem as all this wings and doors were designed for the wide arch look.  Got to love having a bonnet that weighs only 3kg odd though, if that. :D

What's the standard weight roughly?

Yes Taylor, you have two parts to mould off the outer skin and the inter frame the bond the two pieces together giving you a complete oem style part. Aluminum inserts can be moulded into the material and drilled and tapped after so you have threads

Excited to see how these bits come out!

Right so the clutch is definitely on its way out now, been looking at the CG motorsport ones, heard good things but also the Sachs vr6 one that Darkside sell. Anyone had any experience with either?

I think CG motorsports get slagged off on here a bit!

I've got a cg one but it's on a derv. Loud is a understatement for the smf chatter but overall I'm very happy with it.

A few of the octy owners have the Sachs clutch and vr6 flywheel. Seems to handle the power nicely :)

Already have the SMF , not fussed about noise just want it to work and cope with some abuse on track days. Not too sure about the vr6 Sachs because I'm at the top of the torque rating for just the standard clutch disc . Don't really want to be having the box out any time soon after this

Best place to ask Ben is the octavia section ;)

Lots of people running vr6 fly and uprated clutches

Looks like there's been a drive by shooting!!!! :)

indeed , retained the side light and indicator so i can fit it before track days and not faff around when i get there

Why not try a Morette style light?

Get a cold air feed trumpet fitted in the lense plumed through the back of the lamp!

  • Author

This is just purely for tack days and was just a lamp unit from the scrap yard so did't cost much. The Morette's are Uber cool on something like a cossie but on a standard looking fabia will look uber **** and it will completely contradict the sleeper image. Yes its filled with holes but at a distance you would hardly no the difference. The air filter sits just behind the lamp unit so this will stop me having to remove it (which leaves a very obvious hole) , i also remove the bonnet seal because with that out i have about a 12mm gap all round and lots of cold air running through the engine bay it keeps things cool when on track.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, it'd look pants, but be practical for when you fit it for trackdays only.

I did wonder what'd happened with your light at Combe. I wondered if it was maybe used as a weapon to beat that guy on the gate who kept making you do laps of the entrance at 9am :D

you saw that too lol i was like 20 feet from where you guys had parked and he had me driving everywhere and then had to sit in the queue of traffic which i had missed earlier on because i got there early, the light would't have been heavy enough after that par-lava

so someone managed to hit my car at work yesterday, not good

WP_20140923_014_zps23a7ab7b.jpgWP_20140923_009_zps81cc9597.jpg

clutch is slipping big time, spoke to Mike at CG motorsport yesterday so will more than likely be having one other their paddle clutches to handle the power and trackdays. got a list of jobs to do now before winter really kicks in.

  • change clutch
  • change waste gate actuator
  • modify exhaust so its a little quieter
  • finish wiring to blower unit
  • sort central locking
  • change passenger outer cv joint
  • Actually have some form of music in the car (that isn't the exhaust)
  • service
  • and now paint the rear bumper and sort other various areas of bodywork i.e bubbles before the winter weather makes them worse

considering a set of alloy wheels but not to sure yet

Looks like some of that could polish out. I could take a look if you wanted!

haha could do but until i've decided what to do with the exhaust it will only melt again lol thinking of just a 3" outwardly rolled tip, should mate it a little bit quieter as atm its more like a 3"x5" oval
