Anybody ordered a L&K yet?

Featured Replies

How long do they take to build?

That seems a little bit too quick. At least that explains why the paint job doesnt seem very good on the Octy

What's wrong with the paint on the Octy? My next one will be my 3rd vrs and have had no issues with either of my octys other that the boot lid cracking on my previous vrs which was down to the join in the panel

Paint seems quite thin and its too easy to scratch or mark.

Not as thin as the paint finish on the offerings from the Dagenham Dark Side! I've had a Mondeo and a Focus in the past and both were inferior finish compared to MkIII Octy. I do think that Skoda have reduced paint thickness since the MkI which was like stove enamel but MkIII seems similar to MkII.

My old Focus was definitely better than the Octy. Ford are one of those you never know what you are going to get though. Dont think they have heard of quality control

I wouldn't say the paint was thin. Scratches and marks are usually poor wash technique. The paint does get some stone chips but so do many cars with hardish paint

It is thin paint. Marks too easily. Whether it be washing or not.

Perhaps all cars are heading this way now, I dont know.

I must be lucky then as both my octys have been fine with regards to paint. Only marks i have are minor washing marks same goes for my brothers Rally Green Vrs.

Delivery update, car is at Emden, 'released for export' = will be on next available ship into Kent!

I agree, only wash mine myself by hand using two bucket method and micro fibre cloths to dry/polish, used to take the Berb to the local Polish hand car wash, and that had loads more swirl marks. Got quite a few stone chips on the front end but no worse than to be expected for a car covering around 2k per month.

Great ! I have been using your build date as the barometer for my L&K.

I am hoping that my car ordered 4 weeks after yours will be good news for me shortly.

Look forward to seeing your photos when ready. I am particularly interested in the rear view camera picture on the Columbus plus the 20 or so others you will take.

How did you know I'd be taking at least 20 photos LOL

I was thinking of trying one of those panorama thingies from my mobile LOL

Dealer update today - status 38, port of exit release, so boarded and on way as of 20th Oct. I should have 31st Oct as per target.

My dealer was hoping for a code 38 today on mine, but I think they are a bit optimistic!

Lo and behold my phone rang ten minutes later and Satus 38, port of exit release as of 17th October! Looks like we are on the same ship as mine isn't showing as in the UK yet.

Is this his car we are on about, or his dealer? :D

James, you know it's all about the car, but when purchasing my Octy, I did actually get the full lady salesperson experience thrown in for free, she even picked me up from the station in a Topaz Brown SE!!

Ah, but does Andy know that?

What was her name? Sarah? LOL

I don't think demonstrators usually get a name until they find a first proper home! That Topaz Brown SE brought back fond memories as I used to have a pussy cat called Topaz when I was a kid, but it was more of a tortoiseshell n white with green eyes, Rachael from Hortons on the other hand, was more of a brunette in stilettos, sadly she has left now and bakes cakes for a living!

Back on topic, I see Carfile are offering an L&K 1.8TSI DSG for £23,995, 14% discount and configured with Columbus, Memory Seats and Spare, for just over £25k, which is only £4k more than I paid for my much lower spec Elegance. List price on a comparable spec'd up Elegance would be well over £30k based on the CR150 DSG, as the TSI is not available in Elegance spec so L&K does look good value to me as that is an extra £7k of extras for only £4k increase in cost.

 Saying Sarah used to be a demonstrator :x

You'll have Andy after you lol

All you need now is for the L&K to read more of its fuel tank! 41.6 litres, from a supposed 0 miles in the tank, to full. Oh well, at least it makes it more difficult to run out :D
