Problems with USB drive

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am a new member to the briskoda and I just bought my new skoda 2015 model (Ambition which is the second category) it comes with the touch screen but not the colombus system its the smaller size one.

I have tried to play songs with the USB but didnt recognize it at first and then I found out that it only works on FAT32 not NTFS so I formatted it to FAT32 but the issue is after few days the car is unable to recognize the memory stick and I can't even safely remove it or see it among the sources for the media. The only way to make it work again is to unplug and then plug it again. This happened to me already like 4-5 times within less than 2 weeks now and I have tried different USBs and brand new ones.

Any thoughts on this error or its just me?

What is the max size for the USB to be readable (so far I have only tried 16G ones)

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem.

My 16gb USB stick frequently freezes or simply vanishes.  In the middle of a track (usually audiobook mp3) it just stops and the only way to get it going again is to unplug and start again - having to find the track and the place in the track manually.  Sometimes when I switch on the ignition it simply isn't there as a source even though it was the last thing I was listening to when I switched off the ignition.

Do people suffer the same issues with SD cards?

Thanks for your reply, have anyone tried to contact the dealers with this problem?

I don't have the same problem with the SD card, it has been mounted on and plays with no issues so far and does all its functions including remembering where did i stop and resume.

Thanks

I'm running a 256gb Solid State Drive with no problems whatsoever.

I have the same issue with my usb, keeps disappearing as jonjc describes. The aux input is also intermittent and a waste of time.

plan to have it checked at first service.

I would suggest buying big enough SD-card (I have 32G). It doesn't stick out of the dashboard and no need to 'reboot'. I don't know how low temperatures you will have during winter, but pay attention to the temperature rating before buying one.

Same issue with USB - by contrast the SD card is consistently reliable.

Hopefully something a firmware update can resolve at some point.....

I have a slightly different issue on my vrs.

Say I am listening to my SD card, I plug in my phone (xperia z) and it comes up with a Usb error then if I go back to media screen it says SD card error also. The only way around this is to make sure I plug my phone in before turning the ignition on I can't even get around this by turning the stereo off and then plugging the phone in to charge very annoying.

Anyone?

Hawkeye, I have this issue with my Galaxy S3.

Try a new usb cable solved my issue Bizzare but worked for me.

My USB and AUX connections are also dodgy, USB regularly disappears and the AUX input is useless, as it keep cutting in and out. I will be raising it at the first service.

VRS Tdi delivered April 14.

Sorry I have just realised I posted pretty much the very same thing 2 months back - must be my age.... i had no recollection of this thread at all....)
