In for repairs

Featured Replies

Took my 1.4 tsi in to the dealers on Monday with a few issues. Knocking noise on cold idle which sounds like a diesel. When clutch pedal is depressed the knocking stops until the pedal is released. It doesn't happen when warm. Also my drivers window goes up on auto but when it reaches the top it goes back down. Even manually it goes back down, like it thinks a finger is caught in it. Whilst it's in there I told them about my touchscreen sometimes bleeping and changing stations all by itself plus my air con sounds like a distant electric lawnmower when sat in quiet traffic. I had a call today to tell me they changed the release bearing on the clutch but it's still making the noise so they have to keep the car longer. They haven't got around to the other issues yet.

Wow, wonder what that can be? good job it's under warranty, sounds expensive to me!

I picked the car up today. They can't solve the rattling with the engine cold. They had the gearbox out and replaced the release bearing but it still rattles. They said to get some more miles on it and see how it goes. I'm not sure what to think about that. As for the window going down they unplugged the module and reset it. My buzzing air con has been compared to an equivalent octy and deemed normal.

No buzzing on my air con...

Hope they sort it all out for you.

I do get various "buzzing" sounds from I assume heating/climate when engine is turned off. Apparently it goes for a while when I am out of the car (my wife says) filling the tank etc.

Also when unlocked and bonnet opened, there are clicks, whirrs etc. Suppose it's just the memory systems setting up for whatever. Gone are the days of plugs, points, carburetors and a car coat to keep warm, and hand drop windows to demist and cool. Unless you get a classic with a starting handle........

The buzzing air con isn't loud. It's only noticeable without the radio on and stop/start deactivated. It's just once you hear an odd noise you keep listening for it so it gets more noticeable. I can live with that. It's the knocking from the cold engine that bothers me. They said after a few miles if the noise has got worse or is still the same then they would have to look into requesting a new gearbox on warranty.
