Meh.

Doubt it will affect the racing much.

As it stands, it looks like this might be one of the closer Grand Prix's of the year. It would be nice to have a good showing from some of the other teams to shake things up a little.

Also, if anyone has a spare 10-15mins. I suggest they go onto the GPDA's website and tick some boxes. See if any changes can come about.

  • There doesn't seem to be any love for Kimi after coming from the back and finishing 4th  - I haven't seen his name mentioned once in any of the commentaries. I think he did well after the mess up that

Thanks for the link.

If I could select strongly strongly strongly agree with the question about how engine noise is important to me I would have!

I've followed F1 since I was a kid, but only got to go to my first race in 2012 with the V8's. I'm so disappointed I won't have that experience again. I would have loved to hear the V10's!

I went to the British and Singapore GP’s last year and on my mind the whole time was how much better it would have been with more noise.

The brutal sound of the engines was the sort of thing that anyone going to an F1 race could appreciate. Now if you went and weren’t really a fan, you would wonder what all the fuss is about. They don't sound impressive enough.

When i heard they were going for V6 turbo's i was thinking YES! They're going to sound like this

Then they sounded like damp farts.

Oh dear, big **** up there! Glad Max is ok though

Well done Lewis, you're a diplomat.... In public. Very sporting of Vettel to say "you're the winner" also. Otherwise usual Monaco dull fast procession.

Indeed, he handled it well tbh.

My favourite race is Canada so cant wait for that.

Nasty crash. Not watched the highlights yet but glad Max is ok. Bit of an error from the Merc pitwall but I'm sure Lewis will take plenty of positives from this weekend. Being 20+ seconds ahead of Rosberg on one of Rosbergs best tracks isn't bad going. It happens. Good to see Button get McHonda into 8th

. Bit of an error from the Merc pitwall

Slight understatement there.   Lost a 1 /2 result to a very stupid decision.

Instead of a 27 point lead, Lewis takes a 10 point lead to Canada. I wonder if the 17 point swing will be crucial when we get to Abu Dhabi.

Mercedes seem to have a habit of making poor decisions but this was the worst by far. How does a driver have confidence in his team when they can get something this wrong. A complete disaster for Lewis, I would be looking for some P45's to be handed out on Monday.

I do give Nico and particularly Seb credit too for being sporting enough to admit they were lucky. Raised my eyebrows with Nico's reaction as he crossed the line but made up for it afterwards. Think Lewis was also dignified in the circumstances, think I would have resembled Taz in that situation

I think had Lewis not been on the podium he would have done a Senna and left the car on track and walked off. He stopped in the same place which would not have gone unnoticed. I can't believe there will be no fall out from this.

The problem for Hamilton now will be can he trust the calls from the pits and if there is a car failure or another bad call in Canada he will be on the back foot.

Did Grosjean brake early or did Verstappen misjudge the closing speed?

Bit of both from the looks of it.

Verstappen was much faster, though he had followed him for a couple of laps, so should have known where Grosjean would brake.

Grosjean broke way earlier on that lap than the previous few though for sure, obviously he wasnt trying to cause an accident, no doubt his tyres were ****ed but I can see why Max was caught out.

It's interesting how a few small incidents can change history books isnt it. The whole think about Nico getting 3 wins at Monaco, if Merc haddnt messed up today and Nico haddnt pulled his little stunt last year it'd be Lewis with the 3 wins.

I hope Lewis smashes the rest of the season and the 17 points difference is a drop in the ocean. Nice to see Jenson a bit more cheery, steps in the right direction for sure.

Also, the more I see Vettel in a red suit the more I like him, ever since he left RB he seems to be so much more likeable, I dont know why.

Max was very lucky. It was scary to see the footage from the onboard camera. Grosjean braked early IMO which was the cause of the accident, no fault of Max.

Merc strategy has often been suspect this year - Malaysia in the race, and sometimes in qually too.  Think some key personnel going over the winter have left serious gaps - Jock Clear in paticular.

Hamilton's new found (?) maturity is being tested to the limit I think.

Verstappen is talented but over impetuous - and after his antics in the braking zone of turn 1 at Barcelona, it was only a matter of time before he got some payback - although unlike Max's behaviour in Spain, Romain wasn't weaving all over the place when Max hit him.

TBH Verstappen looks a bit dangerous at most GP's, much like Perez can on occasion (mostly when racing Button - there must be a story there). A few penaties might soon get him to clean it up a bit, like Grosjean has and Maldonado hasn't.

Raised my eyebrows with Nico's reaction as he crossed the line but made up for it afterwards.

No doubt Mercedes management had a few words, I thought his reaction as he crossed the line was in very poor taste considering he had not really been in it, but then what do I know?

Rosberg was definitely more subdued after podium so someone must have had a word. Gutted for Lewis as it's probably the strangest call ever. When he had new tyres put on, people started comparing it to Senna Mansell. All seemed to forget Mansell never passed Senna that day despite being on fresh rubber. Even if Hamilton tyres had gone it's a narrow track and easy enough to make the car as wide as possible.

Also, the more I see Vettel in a red suit the more I like him, ever since he left RB he seems to be so much more likeable, I dont know why.

Have to say I agree with this too. Must be something to do with Germans driving Italian cars, I seem to remember my view of Schumacher changed when he made the move from Benetton.

You can't blame Nico for a "heat of teh moment" reaction after crossing the line, especially if he's just spent 12 or so laps worrying that if Hamilton had got past Vettel, he would have been instructed by the team to allow Lewis back in front again to make up for the team mistakes. It was good for him to recognise afterwards how lucky he is, whilst also admitting that anyone would also take whatever wins they get.

I must admit, my initial reaction was more laughing at the mistake and wondering how Hamilton would react, instead of feeling sorry for him.

I wonder how close he was to copying his "idol" and leaving the car at that corner, especially with the ink barely dry on his new contract

Gutted for him, well not much. It's a loss. Worst case I guess as it came from the teams own call. Better; marginally, if he was involved in an accident.

Personally, for all the grandstanding and maturity and team talking... the single best moment for me?

#44 Clattering the p3 sign at the podium... That was either genius or lucky.

Slightly surprised at Nico's reaction, but a win is a win; actually don't care much for him, wonder if he hit a casion later given his luck.

JB was upbeat, got to be, he's enjoying this season, no pressure.

His barge into that sign was definitely purposeful! They can hit their marks on the grid band on time after time, it was his one and only release of his frustration haha! I did laugh lol

With you on that, though the detractors will argue he should be able to follow a car safely.. Certainly livened up a what was a mundane "race" was starting to wonder why I'd wasted my afternoon watching it. Will he.. Won't he.. Seat of the pants stuff awaiting Hamilton blow a gasket, in the end dignity in loss prevailed. Laugh out loud moment with the 3rd place sign
