Hi all,

 

I've recently been going through loads of screenwash. I discovered it's due to a leak from somewhere near the screenwash reservoir as I have a small puddle by the NS wheel arch when I leave the car parked up. It's not a huge leak, probably takes about a week to empty the tank with limited use of the washers.

 

I'll be investigating this weekend by removing the wheel arch liner, but, are there any known issues with leaks from this area and is it likely I'll need some new parts?

 

I've had a search but I can only seem to find things related to the rear washer - mine works fine and all the connections are in place. I use Quantum premium screenwash at the required dilution, don't have any problems with it freezing.

Well, you are limited to either one of the hoses coming off the pump, or the seal the pump itself has to keep it sat in the bottle.

I found the pump itself was weeping.

Hoses were fine and seals were siliconed, fluid was getting out through the body of the pump. I painted it with black spray to fill the gaps and it never lost any fluid again.

If you find its the pump itself, I have a good used one here going spare.  From a Fabia Elegance.

Quick update; took the wheel arch liner off and found all hoses were secure, filled the reservoir with some water and within less than a minute I could see it leaking from the seal the pump has to keep it in the bottle. Drained off the water, removed the seal and gave it a good clean and replaced before pushing the pump back in. I refilled the screenwash and couldn't visually see any leaks for about 15 minutes. Not confident I've fixed it though so I expect the seal will need replacing soon, I believe the part number is 443955465

You could probably use a little silicone to help seal it too.

When I fill mine up it pours out of the front bumper after a litre or so as if it's full but never comes up the filler neck like my mates fabia does. It lasts a couple weeks so guess it's holding a good amount of fluid but something's wrong any ideas got oem xenons if that makes a difference

You could probably use a little silicone to help seal it too.

 

As expected, it still leaks! I'll have a go at it with a bit of Plumbers Gold next time I get a chance

This sounds more like a cracked bottle to me. I have a spare but only the smaller non xenon one.

Would this be why my xenon washers don't work too?? You can hear them spray but they don't pop up so just spray behind the bumper

Well, as if by magic it hasn't leaked for the past couple of weeks. Got the sealant but I'm not going to do anything if it's fixed itself! I too can see why people complain about the reservoir size though!
