Need to sell my Felicia - can I do that on here?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I need to sell my trusty Felicia but wasn't sure if I can advertise it on here??  Please advise.

Thank you :)

You need to sign-up as a Freedom member before you an advertise anything for sale.  Look in 'Shop'.

Hi, normally you would need to be a freedom member to advertise items for sale, but a bit of special leeway is granted so long as it's a one-off in the classics section due to the low value and rareness of these vehicles, but it is by moderator discretion and this only applies to classic (favorit, felicia, rapid, estelle etc) skoda vehicles.

The normal classifieds advert rules apply such as, stating an asking price rather than asking for offers, try and describe it well, mileage, condition, etc

so yes, permission granted.

I never knew that, is that something new?

Similar sort of question here, I've got a load of left over Felicia bits, nothing that's really worth a lot (fivers and tenners), but I don't like to see stuff going to waste when it might help someone out. Would I be able to put a list up?

Thank you, very much appreciated.  Do I sell on this forum or do I need to post on classifieds?

Post on this forum, you cant post in classifieds because of permissions set for non freedom members

New to me too. I can see that being abused tbh and just creating more work for mods and also probably slightly annoy those who have paid to support the site and be able to have the privilidge of selling directly to their target market.

Same here, I wonder where is this 'new rule' mentioned by the owner of the forum? He is the only one having discretionary powers I presume. Will this section become a bazaar? A flea market? Just popped up another car sale...

Loverly Jubberly,............This time next year I'll be a millionaire

Thing is the actual for sale section can be a bit of a VRS fest so you can miss Felly parts and cars in there. Plus if someone's clearing the garage and wants to get rid of a car or parts they're very often near pocket money prices for these - not worth their bother if they have to pay membership to advertise.

It does us a favour the parts come this way instead of going to land-fill. Cars likewise. The mods will soon spot anyone using it as a cheap way to shift stuff on a regular basis.

There are rules of the forum. If a new situation asks for it, new rules can be added by the owner of the forum. Why leave something at moderator's discretion? That is a dangerous path. Discretionary powers generate chaos. As seen above, some existing FREEDOM members feel uncomfortable about this 'new' rule. On the other hand, other people are too poor to afford a FREEDOM membership (I am one of them) and that is understandable too. It is true also that a sell / buy / giveaway section should exist for every type of Skoda SEPARATELY for better visibility.

All these could change to accomodate members' needs, but people have to speak and lobby.

I'm beginning to regret I asked...not that it has proved fruitful anyway, not even one view of my ad :(

If only it was as straightforward as advertising one day and getting a sale the next!

BTW, the 'viewing' figures sometimes don't tally correctly so don't lose hope just yet! ;)

I looked but not after a hatch, would have to be another estate to entice me away from mine. Sorry.

On the bright side a lot of people will have been on holiday and not checked into the site, things will pick up.

@Allicia8, as John said, views tally does not always update accurately or instantly. Never shy from asking anything, discussion is good!

Thanks for the reports and pm's on this. Tom is as this sections moderator perfectly ok to state this, what he has done is ok. It's been discussed in the team room before this moment where I also liked his proposal.

We try and adapt to the forum as things change, ideas come and go. I only update the guidelines/rules after a trial or test has proved to be valid. It could of been introduced more formally, but I'm fine with Tom's call; JFDI.  Each section; loosely put, it's by model, is welcome to adapt and evolve separately based on needs/demographics or put simply, what works for that area.

This then only applies to a very small and low value items within this specific area, one of eight. Classic Skodas' in need of or donating parts. More so as one off's, repeated sales or clear taking the micky will of course be easy for Tom and others to spot.

Any member who has an issue with this specifically because they've purchased freedom to solely and specifically sell, is welcome to contact me directly.

I've got a set of adaptations lined up for freedom q1 '15. To benefit not just those who pay to support the site through a monetary payment. There is also a possible overhaul of the entire classifieds too, more on that in the freedom area as I get closer to releasing it.

As RedStudio says, I'd prefer members to benefit, than more landfill. This has not changed, the site is for the members and supporters of it, has been and will be under my watch... It's not a part of some corporation, we do and ultimately I, make a gut feel on what works or does not.

We also have a free stuff section in place too.
