German test: best cars for senior people (I kid you not!)

Featured Replies

The Yeti features (of course). You have to BUY the full test so who knows which one they chose as best, but I imagine it is very much in the order the photos are arranged. So Dacia last, QQ second and Yeti as the ULTIMATE OAP mobile. Yay.  Or maybe not.

Also of note is that this is the first time I've seen pics of the new black and silver five spoke alloys on a Yeti:

I think they look pretty good - but I still prefer the Matterhorns.

The name tag on the magazine looks very similar to Auto Express so we may see it there soon.

It's their sister magazine yes and no they don't ever share group tests like that... especially not when all the cars are LHD with German number plates. :)

The Alloys on the Yeti are Blossom 17" and are not standard on any Yeti but can be bought as an option.

On any Yeti bar the top of the range L&K that is - on which you can only get the ugliest alloys I've ever seen on any car. :) Yes I'm outspoken. hehehe

Picture captions confirm you are driving the best car for the decrepit:

Platz eins mit 78 von 100 Punkten: Skoda Yeti.

Nahe beim Yeti liegt der Goldene Schnitt fu¨r Alte: Der Skoda ist kompakt, übersichtlich, bequem und gu¨nstig – ein durch und durch ausgereifter Alleskönner

Time to buy new cardigan, slippers and pipe by way of celebration.

Well, someone had to do it. With thanks to Google

"First place with 78 out of 100 points : Skoda Yeti .

Near the Yeti is the golden ratio for Old : The Skoda is compact, clear , convenient and favourable - a thoroughly sophisticated all-rounder".

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I'll pass on the pipe, the Yeti will be with me in a few weeks :notme:

That time passed years ago for me; but hoodie, trainers and e-cigarette version here.

What was Johann doing searching out an article about 'senior' persons ;-)

I was waiting for you to notice this thread Brimma. :) I suspected you'd somehow find it. Autobild is one of my RSS feeds, so the article found me, not the other way around. How did you find this thread? Were you in the Yeti section (again!). :)

Just dabbling

There's nothing like a good dabble ;)

Dont you just love Germans!! :dull:

Especially those in one of the links at the bottom of the Autobild article.

But to be serious, one of the reasons I am about to change from an Octavia II to a Yeti is that I need the more upright driving position and the ergonomics of an electrically-adjustable driver's seat to alleviate back problems which are increasing with age.

I'm here,fighting the corner for the young'uns(ish).

When I bought my Yeti last year the dealer told me they were selling well mainly two wheel drive models to people of a "certain" age and also through the Motability scheme, not sure if this was a positive selling point or not ;-)

It's bad enough that my wife and colleagues rib me about buying a pensioners car, I don't need to see this :D

When confronted with such ribbing, I do try and make reference to Richard's blue beast (now that he's aiming for around 500bhp...).

On the upside it's quite fun surprising drivers of more prestige machinery and their mistaken assumptions...

Not surprised that people on Motability are taking their share. I'm on my second and am planning on a third next year.

Mainly because of the seat height from the ground and that I can get a wheelchair folded and vertical in the boot so I don't have to keep taking it out to get the shopping in.

Planning a trip to the Bol d'Or at Paul ricard in september-too far for me on a bike nowadays 800 plus miles and so going to Yeti my co-driver is one of the crew who will also leave his bike at home and suggested we could take his Benz a 6.3V8 estate but the fuel favours my petrol yeti and I am happy with a straight blat to Avignon His Z4 hasn't enough space!! Being over 60 doesn't mean bath chairs and slippers and the Yeti is a sporting drive!!

The Yeti can be rather a Senior Stealth Surprise, can't it, especially round the twisty bits :giggle:

Johann, a trip to Specsavers?

Well now so a Yeti is a veh for the advanced in years, mm. You are only as "senior" as you feel. I am the wrong side of 65 and still ride my Rally Raid 690 to Morocco for 3 weeks blast on the piste; a bit slower than when I was a youngster that's 'cause I'm wiser, nothing to do with age !

Mike

Having now spent an evening with Johann in the pubs around The Cut in Waterloo (London) I can confirm that he is not an "oldie"!!

And we didn't see one Yeti!!!!

Graham, I thought you couldn't be bought for the price of a drink, but a whole evening's worth from Johann and you'd say anything!
