Speaker Upgrade - Adapters for my '07 Fabia Mk II

Featured Replies

Hi! I am planning on upgrading the speakers in my '07 Fabia Mk II. However, I am not sure if I require a speaker adapter for my front door speakers. Can anyone recommend an adapter or share some knowledge with me?

I am thinking about getting this adapter - http://www.halfords.com/sat-nav-audio/car-audio/sound-system-accessories/autoleads-speaker-adaptors-for-vw-golf-sak3101

For these speakers (apparently 'ultra-slim') - http://www.halfords.com/sat-nav-audio/car-audio/sound-systems/vibe-slick-6-component-speakers

Any help would be appreciated!

Also, should I get them fitted at Halfords or a garage or try and do it myself?

Can't help with adaptors n what not, but id be inclined to avoid halfords monkeys

Id use a specialist ICE shop myself. They know what theyre doing haha

100% agreed with this. Apologies if anyone works for Halfords.

Thanks for the advice! I have a whole bunch of electronic problems in my car so I will probably get it all looked at and speakers replaced in one go. My main worry is that an adapter is needed and they wont be able to fit the speakers or will do it wrong.

The tweeters are slightly trickier i think. The oem ones are glued in, so if you want to replace them in the same space, tats probably where a halfords monkey would make a mess of it i think.

Plus you want dynamat to presume, and no rattles or anything afterwards.

I wouldnt trust halfords personally.

Theres loads of little ICE car shops around. If you go in n have a chat with em, those guys usually know exactly what theyre talking about and do it day in day out on alsorts of cars

I hadn't even thought about sound deadening material. Any recommendations?

I have got a quote from an ICE shop which was almost triple what Halfords charge, so I think I might risk it (but find a Halfords monkey who sounds like he knows what he is doing).

Speaking to my local ICE shop, the guy reckons hes tried all the different manufacturers and still thinks 'dynamat' is the best by far.

Ahh 3 times the price for a quality job. I wouldnt hesitate in paying the extra tbh.

Good luck (:
