Featured Replies

Just bought a Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDi Laurin & Klement DSG Estate on an 06 plate and I come from the Holmfirth area.

This is my first Skoda and so far, so good.

Welcome from me too. That is a lovely car (as I can testify having the 2008 vintage of the same in a manual). You probably have the auto dimming side mirrors on yours too, nice option that but just be careful with them as they are stupid money to replace!!

Good luck with it

Adam

Welcome.

Lovely car that will all the toys!

Proper gearbox too

Did they come standard on the L&K. Isn't the glass like £200 PER SIDE?

Welcome.

Look out for my grey Scout knocking around, I'm in Upperthong!

I believe they did as standard up until 2007 or so at least on the driver side. And yes the glass is over £200 per side!! I looked into retrofitting until I found that out...

Welcome, looks very nice and with Sports suspension and Pegasus alloys.

I'm glad you all know lots about it! And I love the toys on it but still need to understand each of the displays etc.

Yes it has that mirror.

I just went for an Octavia and when I saw his my brother said that one and quick about it (he works high up in Andrew Page so I can get discounts :-) )

Trying to look for a parcel shelf and get the correct one on eBay as when the car was being valet ready for sale it got knicked (what can you say about Manchester (Sorry!, I'm from Yorkshire))!

It came with Full Service HIstory and every little bit of paperwork you can think of, but looks like no bluetooth.

I think the manual could have been written better but still plodding through it and then there is the audio manual! lol!

I like the gear box and can not tell when it changes gear (except in sport mode lol).

What a bunch of barstewards, you need that maybe someone on here has one...

Bluetooth is unlikely in a car of that age unless it has been retrofitted but with the maxidot dash display it can be added easily enough. Plenty of threads on it here.

Very nice. Welcome to the forum.

You don't need a boot liner for it do you? I've got one in the garage :)

Hi,

Is that a rubber one to go over the cloth/carpet to protect it (so new to this car lol)?

All the boot has is the spare wheel covered with a cloth/carpet area which is about 5 inches deep and then another layer on top (if you see what I mean).

:-)

Yep genuine one; sits over the boot carpet and protects it. Also stops items moving about quite so much in the boot, as the boot mat has rubber strips along it.

Welcome to the forum nice car you have there, and as already stated very knowledgeable people on here.

Which stereo has it got?

I assume it's the Nexus:

Bluetooth can be fitted. It's a separate module that plugs into the stereo harness.

You can also do some tricks with some software and a cable called VCDS to enable extra features on the maxidot.

Mine isn't that module. Just the older type withno Sat Nav!

If it's a Stream, a Bluetooth module isn't available for it. You'd have to go aftermarket, e.g. a Bury or Parrot kit.

That's it! Thanks for the help. Just ordered a holder and FM transmitter for my phone.

Ah. Maybe it was later models that came with the sat-nav or was it an option perhaps? Just seen a lot of L&Ks with that sat-nav fitted.

I don't think the nav was ever standard even on an L&K, I guess if people were prepared to pay for an L&K, they'd be more inclined to tick other options too.

I always though Xenon lights were standard too. Obviously not!

I guess the Bluetooth would need to be one that's controllable through maxidot like my older rSAP only 5N0 035 730 B module.

Could experiment and put my Stream MP3 stereo back in and see what happens!

Phil

Adam, what do you mean by retrofit? Does your L&K not have the dimming mirrors?

Mike

I believe he has the dimming mirror on the drivers side but not the passenger side.

At some point around 2007 on L&K models they dropped the dimming mirror on the passenger side.....just the drivers side and interior mirror are auto dimming. At the same time they seemed to fit Xenon's as standard whereas before they were on the options list. (The factory Xenon's on my 2006 L&K were a £500 option).

Actually I haven't got dimming mirrors on either side (just the inside).  I think it was dropped in favour of the Xenons and ESP upgrade referred to above and the driver side (but not passenger side) then became an option (which wasn't ticked in my case).

BT definitely works with the Stream MP3, so I assume the Stream also.  As a test, I recently tried my old 5N0 035 730B rSAP module with my Stream MP3 (which I picked up to allow me to keep the Columbus at trade in time) and it worked perfectly with my S3.  There was no phonebook functionality on the unit though, hence the need for maxidot to make a call (which Tycoon will have).

Apparantly both mirrors dim but not had chance to try them yet.

I thought you meant about parking mirror on the left as it moves to show the kerb when reversing.

Quite right - sorry, forget about the older early BT modules that worked just via Maxidot

Probably quite difficult to get hold of now though?
