BRISKODA National Trackday @ Rockingham

Featured Replies

Ah - oh well, I have asked anyway and shall book an additional one alongside Charlie should it be possible. Having garages makes a good focal point for the day :D

I hope the same burger van is there too. Was quite good food when I was there earlier this month.

I have garage 33 if you can get one next to it :)

I have booked and paid for another garage this morning, and Will at Rockingham is aware and will ensure my garage is next to yours, and if anyone else from Briskoda books a garage to ensure they are all grouped together.

Nice one Jase :)

can I just tag in a garage?! ;)

can I just tag in a garage?! ;)

A garage is plenty big enough to stick roughly 4 cars in at a squeeze but ultimately its just car crap storage if its wet :D

I will go halves on a garage if you are interested Sharky?

Booked in! (don't know about other people, just copying and pasting...)

Will there be photography of the track action?

I've been to Rockingham twice on events organised by them but not had photography on either occasion.

Couple of options:

1. Organise a photographer to turn up and Briskoda members pay the photographer for photos after the event (how these things normally work)

2. Organise a photographer to attend for a fixed price (including all digital images of Brisky members' cars). Club pays for photographer then members pay club for photos.

As it's the Briskoda national at same time, there's a good chance of attendees photographing, and also people getting shots from pit wall when not on track. :)

Who was the person with the drone last year? Will he be allowed to fly it at Rockingham? And will he be attending if he is? I liked the footage from that at Blighton.

Pardon my naivety, but I'm guessing (or rather hoping) we won't be sharing the track with any kamikaze test pilots during the half hour taster session?

I've looked at Caterham hire for the day, but the costs are eye watering. Hence, I shall be at the helm of my own car, which needs to leave unscathed.

Yes but generally not going to be the same standard as someone who does trackday/motorsport photgraphy for a living. Every trackday I've been to except 2x Rockingham and 1x Blyton Park has had photography and it's an option that a lot of people are interested in and willing to pay for. Just put it up there as something that Colin might want to consider to make the day even better. :)

The trackday (and lunchtime taster session) are organised by Rockingham and open to the public so anyone can turn up.

Personally I'd look to arrange some sort of track day insurance as I just in case, for this situation. It's what I'll be doing here, if I race, or other tracks.. much rather be safe than sorry.

I really would not worry, track days are geared to be as safe as possible, there will be no late braking or over taking in corners, if you are travelling fast then the car in front will move for you, if you clock somebody coming up fast then you should do the same, move out of his way.

As you are booked on a taster session you will be with other people who are all having a taste.

Track day insurance will be expensive and restrictive clauses like you will need an instructor in your car or you pay the first £15,000 of any claim, stupid things like that.

IMO you are more at risk of being wiped out by another car on the roads, just today a truck ran a red light and ripped the front off our works van!

^^^ I agree, i was stressed the first time I went on track, after many track days later, I conclude its probably more dangerous driving to work, or avoiding school run 4x4's ;)

I agree with James and Dave above! Track days is the best entertainment a petrol head can get for the money it costs. It also the safest thing you can do with your car in a safe and controlled environment. Track days accidents are purely down to people who have no clue how to drive the car and have nothing between their ears either :). If you follow those simple rules you will still have buckets of fun while staying completely safe. Having said that we still have our little battles and chase each other around the tracks but we do not race and we will let people by on straights just to chase them back in return :)

Good, that's set my mind at ease a little. Fingers crossed for a dry running, then!

Wet is much more fun!

Wet is like an ice rink at Rockingham, just so everyone knows.  Tyre shredder in the dry, ice rink in the wet :D  Nice Jekyll and Hyde circuit.

Worst that could happen is the car catches fire, but that doesn't happen very often :D

Hayden, it did not "catch" fire, let's be honest here, you "set it" on fire mate ;):D

It definitely caught fire, I was very surprised at the time.

Haha, I took a new pair of v70 hard compound, and I didn't kill them totally in one day so possibly not really aggressive, just fairly tough. :)
