BRISKODA National Trackday @ Rockingham

Featured Replies

Will told me that Rockingham have been informed by Blyton Park about the Brisk Rover catching fire last year, Rockingham have prepared themselves for the Brisk Rover visit with a small investment in fire safety.

Can never be too safe Haydn, know what I mean

Dark Hero, can you fit a Yeti in your garage? :)

It sounds like there are 3 possibly 4 garages booked.  Knowing how big they are from last time, there's plenty of room for cars and stashing stuff. :)

Plenty of space Richard :)

I also have a garage, sharing with the Sharky fella.   Number 31.

Ultimately we have about 4 garages between us :D  Space won't be an issue :D

Plenty of space Richard :)

Cool, will give us chance to chat about the following weekend too. :)

Fantastic :)

Can I pinch some garage space off someone, don't mind chipping in towards the cost

like we said Andy, pleanty of room :)

All Booked! See you there folks!

Quick question, do I understand correctly that I will also need to book a ticket for Briskie National on top of the Track Day?

like we said Andy, pleanty of room :)

I will closer to the date but I will consider bringing my small air compressor, car jack and axle stands. I will bring some air tools as well.

I suppose with all the garage spaces people are booking it won't be a problem to store it there, no need for my car to be in a garage - famous last words :D

yes, you need to book for the national meet, payment is optional (t-shirts ect) , I have bought a t-shirt ticket for me, and a free on for ash.... and you have to pay for camping :)

All booked, long sleeve T-shirt and it is a good feeling to be a suggar daddy ;)

Generally yes, but...

Insurance.

Why not?

Below is a quote from http://www.moris.co.uk/ - looks affordable. This is for my Fabia MK2 vRS with value given as £7,500, four previous track days and no other claims or convictions.

If this is going to give you a peace of mind then it is well worth it as it will result in you driving more relaxed and therefore better and less likely to have any problems of any kind.

I never had any insurance, even on my first track day and to be honest even at an event like HowFast? @ Bedford where people do timed laps and go absolutely bonkers sometimes there was nobody with any damage. I am not saying it does not happen. It does, ask Hayden ;), but is much rarer than road accidents.

Very important but I'd not overdo on helmets. Even basic one with competition approvals will suffice plenty and no point in shelling out for kevlar-carbon fibre multi thousands pounds state of the art racing helmets. If you were in an accident where such a helmet would stand between life and death then I can bet my family jewels that the only thing left in one piece out you would be a head in that helmet lol. This is simply impossible unless you decide to jam the throttle, obtain the top speed of your car and go straight into a concrete barrier but then even such a helmet would not help you

What is essential is very comfy clothing which does not restrict your movement in any way shape or form and is very light and breathable. If you are going for the whole day session you will sweat a lot. I usually have A/C off and blowers on full and I am still boiling :) - but that could be me only as I am a fast b@$tard after all.

For me personally shoes are extremely important as I get lots of feedback from the car this way. I'd say this is the only piece of true racing kit worth investing in. I buy boxing boots as they are essentially as good if not better than racing ones. You do not need fire proof ones after all.

Fully agree with paragraphs about tyres and tuition!

  • 1 month later...

Taster sessions don't appear when I click on the booking link does that mean they all gone?

it does look like the early one has filled. I'll ask Will about the second one, unless that's full too. If enough folk want to, they did suggest a second one towards the end of the day.... I'll ask.

Ok thanks

I'm keen to do a taster session but can't see any availability either. :-(

Any idea if there is going to be more capacity?

there's the whole day on track! get in there! lol..

I'd absolutely love to but if we can go we will have to bring the little 'un with us so I don't think I'd get away with that haha!

Taster sessions are full.

They cannot run 2 at lunch as the marshalls need a break.

There is space on the full day.

All I can say is a taster isn't enough anyway ;)  Find a friend to share the whole day with and split the cost, inc tyre contribution. Treat it like a A road you've never driven on and have a blast.

Or come along, grab a passenger lap or two and book up for the next one local to you, then next year on the national, you'll be all set :)

There won't be a PM session as previously mooted/indicated. Rockingham are unlikely to run one now for not enough demand. Would need around 30cars to want tasters to convert this and I'm not sure there is, if it had sold out in a couple of days, maybe... it's not my call, I'm not paying Rockingham to run the trackday, merely a messenger.
