In answer to where they were taken...

These 4 were taken on a road that heads off from the Cat'n'Fiddle road: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.2299277,-1.9598573,18z

This was just a bit further up the same road: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.2272656,-1.9485437,18z

And this was returning from Grin Low car park:

Could have cleaned the car to complement the great photos

My car is for driving, not looking pretty :D

Besides, a 80+ mile daily commute on salty, rural roads doesn't lend itself to having a clean car !

I'll wash it in spring.

Oh dear!!

The rear number plate in muddyboots photo is perfectly readable.

You can't read it because he has "redacted" it!!

Look at the 6th picture again.

Also read his explanation as to why his car happens to be dirty in those photos.

I bet you'll hate this one!!

The front one was as bad!

Just so you know, the Police saw my car, since they spent some time with me at this point, and they didn't comment about it at all, probably because half the cars in this area are equally as dirty. It is one of the joys of living in the country. We all know it is illegal but the Police have a sensible attitude to it.

I love #2 - an artistic shot, for the techies!

Looks like, from left to right: Me, a tractor, and something with big knobbly tyres on :)

If those other two tracks hadn't been there, I'd have had no idea where the road was in places.

I don't rate my Hankook winter tyres much in snow though. Obviously they're magnitudes better than summer tyres, but they haven't got the bite in snow like other winter tyres I've used.

They'll be changed for next season. Nokian or Conti probably.

OK, in case pics weren't enough, here's some in car footage :D

Start of the detour:

On the map: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Buxton,+Derbyshire+SK17/@53.2346511,-1.9683331,17z/

(Starting on A537 Cat'n'Fiddle road, dogs leg across the A54, then heading SE on the minor road.)

Heading along the minor road:

On the map: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Buxton,+Derbyshire+SK17/@53.2306655,-1.9612316,17z/

(Heading SE)

A few "hmm, should I have done this" moments as I yump over a few drifts (00:10-00:20ish):

(Note - nothing happens after 00:40 as I've parked up to get out and take photos)

Similar location to previous one

Same as above, but from rear-facing camera:

And the road towards Grin Low car park, from the rear camera.

Struggled a bit on this hill, partly because the Hankook winter tyres aren't great on snow, and partly because I was being a little too agressive on the throttle:

On the map: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Buxton,+Derbyshire+SK17/@53.2457703,-1.9338391,19z/

(Heading NE. I decided to turn round on the level, as I could see a descent towards the car park and didn't want the risk of not being able to get out.)

Sometimes I find footage from the rear camera more interesting than the front :)
