New mobile phone time..

Featured Replies

Afternoon all.... :)

On the 10th February I can upgrade my Samsung Galaxy S3 to a new handset.

I have narrowed this down to a few options, all Samsung... Even though I have a minor issue with random disconnects/connects which should be fixed soon (I hope)

Galaxy S5

Galaxy Note 4

Galaxy Alpha

Galaxy Note Edge

I am after a handset that works as my S3, i.e rSap /Bluetooth Premium?

Has anybody used these in there Superb and confirms they work perfect

Stu

Using galaxy S5 with Premium handsfree. Works perfectly.

Just interesting thing: when connected to Premium, the car overtakes the management of your SIM card. Which means it disables data connection to the phone, which results to the loss of Skype etc

You have to activate wifi from maxi dot and connect phone to car through wireless connection to maintain receiveing emails etc.

Weird, but working..

Thanks... I get loads of emails to my phone, it is nice to have a quite drive...lol

I have exactly the same call to make 2 days after you. Will be an S4 or S5 for me I think.

I borrowed a Galaxy Note 3 (I think) from work to test the issue with my blue tooth, I liked the larger size of it, especially having big hands Lol (Proved the issue was with the car and not my S3)

If all goes to plan I should be getting the blue tooth module changed in the next couple of weeks :)

My other half has a Note 3 that works perfectly with rSAP so would assume the Note 4 would too.

When I upgrade this month I'm considering the S5.

They should all work with the car just a matter of which one do you like best! :)

S6 should be available in March, could wait and get the latest, or (hopefully) cheaper S5 when it's replacement is out

Another S5 here, get text up on maxidot. Hooks up via premium bluetooth.

I switched from Galaxy S3 to HTC One M8...

No problems, everything is as before, texts read out etc.

Miles better phone as well, and the battery life is incredible.

Best switch ever

Cheers

Will take a look at that one.... Does it connect to rSap OK, i.e Bluetooth Premium?

Perfectly

I only use the premium when I'm in a poor signal area to utilise the car aerial  . It stops the phone functioning for bbm. viber , emails etc. so I switch it back to handsfree

Enable wifi in the car and connect phone to wifi. Viber, emails etc will work again when on premium handsfree.

As i said above, I get a lot of emails to my phone, I am always glad of the quite when driving..Lol , I can't read them whilst driving so it does not cause any issues, just read them when I stop,

I run my business via the phone so I need to access it 24 x 7 , either my passenger or myself when not driving

Will let you know about the Galaxy Note 4 if it arrives...

I have already had a go at Vodafone.. I only did the upgrade as they did a good deal and promised delivery tomorrow.. If I do not get the delivery or the text I should get to confirm after 6 tonight or in the morning I will cancel my upgrade and contract and move providers, I am sick of Vodafone really, not sure why I did it now..

I have a feeling I was lied to to get me to say yes... already told them if it does not turn up the will keep it...Lol

Stuarttunstall,

Did you get your Note 4 and did it connect ok ?

Yes, arrived on Wednesday.... Galaxy Note 4, connected first time using rSap (Premium), I have been out in the car today and worked perfect... AND it is a great handset... :)

As you may be aware I have issues with my phone (Galaxy S3 plus a Note 3 I borrowed from work)  just disconnecting and reconnecting for no reason, was OK for 5 months then since early December, it played up... can go a few days Ok then play up... The car is going in next Friday to have the rain/light sensor changed to fix another issue, and the dealer has agreed to change the blue tooth module ....

Before I connected the Note 4 I went into the menu on the Columbus and "reset to factory defaults",  this wiped the profiles from the system, which mean't no handsets connected .. So starting from scratch..  It has worked perfect today, so I hope that the reset may have fixed my issue, but I will try it over the weekend to see what it does... after all two weeks ago it worked perfect Friday, Saturday and Sunday, then last weekend, perfect on Friday, OK on a journey out on Saturday but disconnected twice in 10 mins on the way back...

If it is OK this weekend (only use the car at weekends) I may tell the dealer to fix the sensor but leave the module until the following week, after all it is a quick change if needed..  if it is OK for two weekend I would think it will be OK (fingers crossed) :)

IVE CHANGED FROM IPHONE 5S TO 6 & IT WORKS PERFECT

Very impressed with the Note 4, really nice handset, and it has stayed connected again today :) 2 fault free days, so fingers and everything else crossed, the blue tooth reset may have cured my issues and saves having to have the module changed :) BUT I will not build my hopes up, it has done 4 days before...Lol

The Note 4 is really smooth, battery life is good, I took it off charge at 7.30 this morning, I have had it connected to the blue tooth for an hour or so, and sent a few messages on WhatsApp and still at 87%, ny old S3 although 2 years old would be down to a least 50% by now, blue tooth really drained it...

Updated my Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 and nowt I`m experiencing random dropouts. So try to avoid update until the Bluetooth problems on Lollipop are fixed.

I have read about a few issues with the latest Android update... I tend not to do mine, only for the same version... i.e 4.3, 4.4 etc not major updates...

Well, I have had 3 fault free days :) bluetooth worked perfect to PREMIUM no random disconnects this weekend.. Car was due to go in on Friday (20th) to have the rain/light sensor changed and the blue tooth module, but I have been speaking to the dealer and agreed we will see if I get a bluetooth issue free weekend this week... If so they will just do the sensor on the 27th..

I will keep all crossed that resetting via the Columbus may have fixed the issue, or the new handset, or maybe both ...Lol

It has done 3 days before, but the following weekend managed one before the disconnect/reconnect, then was OK again... so if it does manage to go the 3 days this week, Friday to Sunday that will be two weeks on the trott... Not done that since early December when the issue started...

Will see how we go... I really hope it is now fault free :)

Update.

The biggest problem after upgrading was loss of phonebook. It just didn`t load anymore, phone application Settings crashed as soon as it started to download.

Reverted to factory settings in safe mode and not in safe mode, did clean install, nothing. Even reflashed Android 5.0 several times.Tried to downgrade to Android 4.4, no success. Finally, downloaded app called Bluetooth Phonebook and this did the trick. Phonebook back again.
