So Shmee has gone the Mountune route after 7000 miles ,So will Fezza do the same and other owner members on this site.

So no track day experience by Shmee yet, hence no feedback of oil consumption issues showing themselves?

Wonder if he has had the recall addressed yet or is his car a later version and they don't apply.

The next instalment: even more pops and crackles !! Small and Big kids will love it I'm sure. Oh and Shmee of course.

  • And I've gone right off the RS3 idea. £40k plus for a car that#'s slower than my Yeti and has an automatic box...

  • I'd have one in a heartbeat if I had the money

  • Be it 'chav' or not. This and it's 400 ponies bring a smile to my face. The more I've seen of the mk3 the more I've come around to it. Purely for its driving characteristics. My local ford don't

Fezza's totally happy with his Focus RS, design faults and all.

Quit a well reasoned and evaluated UK review.

https://recombu.com/cars/article/ford-focus-rs-video-review-hyper-performance-or-overhyped

Perhaps we need two measures for a Hot hatch these days, especially when reviewed by Journos.

Once it was the sporty, good performance and handling  family car, for the commute, holidays and general  everyday car use for,1,2.3 4 /5 kids and adults.

Today, No1 focus for the  buyers of such named(hot hatch)  appears to be ,very good performance with an emphasis on  - track use as a pre-requisite ,mainly  for two passengers,  with a lesser requirement for an everyday / family user.

Hence a No 2 car, in a well heeled   family for many owners.

What do you think?

I guess a sporty Audi A3, or a quick BMW ! series?

Maybe for the less well-heeled, the forthcoming vRS 245 or a SEAT Leon?

Not a VW Golf, that's far too obvious............

Owner selling after a short period for different reasons.

Sold my RS after 2 months, almost got my money back. I just wasn't getting on with it. Didn't feel quick, bouncy ride and it veered all the time under acceleration. Loved the noise though. Still gonna watch your vids!

Golf R. I ordered it last year then cancelled to get the RS. Turns out the dealer had my order unregistered (delivered late Jan) so I ended up getting it, £3k less than last years price too! Suffice to say I am very pleased with it. Effortless and comfy when you just wanna chill.

I'm sorry to hear that, too. Lowering your tire pressure to the Michelin-recommended 41front/38rear really helps tone down the bouncy feel, and as Fezza notes, the veering issue seems to be the rear drive unit learning and it goes away. A simple tune wakes these things up very nicely.

Before I got my Focus I owned a few Imprezas, some I modified a fair bit, but to be honest I don't think I was ever completely satisfied with modding. Probably the best experience I had, considering value for money and peace of mind, was with a bog standard wrx. However I would still like to modify an R32 Skyline, maybe make one my project car. I agree the car is great as standard and you can put the money you save towards the next Ferrari repair bill. I would be happy if you just made a 10 minute video of the sound your Ferrari makes, awesome.

We know that it is said faults and failures are said to get overblown online / on forums and people just bring the negative stories to forums,

but

Is there actually an issue with the Ford Focus RS engines & head gaskets and a growing problem or is it just an acceptable failure rate and blown / blowing head gaskets is being overblown online?

Anyone with a Focus RS or working with them in the know?

George,

The guy in the above video seems to be in contact with a Ford Dealer / Techie but also seems to be communicating with Ford USA I guess, if all is to be believed of course

Is it a tuned motor issue, Mountune or others not -warrantied by Ford ?

Interesting comment from a non-committal Ford employee in the USA answering question on Fezza youtube vlog

Foxslayer

Christopher Ayres its a fact that Ford changed the cylinderhead-screws in the production process. If you order the screws now you get the new ones. Ford makes a secret about it, idk why, such things can happen. I think the issue happens more often in germany because some of their highways have no speed limit so they can push the RS a long way on full throttle.

Foxslayer Unfortunently do to my employment I could not state that but...read the comment above everyone else. I was the chassis launch ME on the RS launch, and was done on the project by the time they made the REV to the BOM.

So it now a 1 1/2 days since Fezza took car back to his dealer / tech service engineer, currently no comment from dealership or Ford Europe forthcoming, regarding his car issues

Edited by vrskeith

Fezza is now resorting to non-daily driver but not a bad fall-back ,track day is questionable though.

3rd Recall explained by owner.

Fezza says WTF, the RS is under warranty so why let it ruin my track weekend.
