  • And I've gone right off the RS3 idea. £40k plus for a car that#'s slower than my Yeti and has an automatic box...

  • I'd have one in a heartbeat if I had the money

  • Be it 'chav' or not. This and it's 400 ponies bring a smile to my face. The more I've seen of the mk3 the more I've come around to it. Purely for its driving characteristics. My local ford don't

Fezza.es,

Does a comparison review between his Focus RS and Ferrari 360. Mainly centre around noise and a few other features.

Those that post smart links that you have no idea what they are can be selling kitchens and the likes.

Oooh I'm after a new tumble dryer :)

Perhaps after nearly 11 years of posting it turns out I have been missing a trick :(

EVO hatch test, 3 FWD's against 1 AWD:

Surprisingly maybe, Focus was the slowest car from a roll (that was already tested and known) and not faster around a track than a Leon Cupra. Also, Brembos don't seem to be doing enough to stop it as good as the other Brembo equipped cars but the single-pot brakes on the CS-S are second best. Makes me wonder whether I need to bother with mine apart from a pad upgrade...

Personally after all those reviews about great handling and big speeds around corners I was expecting a real track hero but I guess what everybody meant to add next to all those comments was: "by current AWD standards" as I'm sure it is faster than an R, S3, TT-S but obviously not as fast as any of today's top FWD hatches.

Fezza es.

Fallen in love with his RS manual box.

Oh! my oil consumption or lack of frequent checking?

I suppose this might explain why so many people are jumping camp (can't be 4r$ed to use a smart link)

Maybe I don't need to save for an M2 after all :)

Guess that the above article is old fish & chip paper now.( March 2016)

The same journo, ( Ben Barry) some six months later and after living with the Long-term Golf R manual for 13 months and 17000 miles, made this conclusion " There are more thrilling hatches out there but none that does so much so well."  Sounds a bit Winston Churchill that!

Note ! As a reminder, the R has the option of DSG - for those that crave Launch Control and a lazy drive, if not using the paddle shifts.

Must say that I was surprised by Chris Harris's comments on his TG Speed Week Track video of last week, in relation to his views on the Focus RS.

He changes his mind from month to month, or video review and article to article.

That is an odd test anyway as it is Best Road car taken on the track.

So usually he is all drifting and sliding is great and then its not because we are seriously checking out how the Road Legal Car is on the track.

The thing is we are not all driving gods so Drift Mode buttons might suit those that want to have drift fun easily.

Point A-B all season as they come from the factory might matter to many, or even how they behave on a cold wet track as they come from the Dealership.

Because many in the UK might go for a track day all excited and it could be cold and wet.

................

Lovely driving location / conditions & not a track.

I've seen a couple over the past week whilst on the job I think they look pretty good to be honest!

RS forums seem to have lots of posts on excessive oil use with the Focus RS.

Is there an issue or just owners not checking oil levels and topping up as and when required for their driving style and usage of a car that Ford mapped in pops and crackles and might be suffering from Bore Wash?

Or is it just overblown on the internet?

I thought it was just the kind of issue that the VW Group had with their engines these days.

Could Feeza es. Be suffering from something similar when exploiting the power on track.

This is where Fezza assumes his oil consumption arises. Track days and hard daily driving.

Track testing against Honda Type R owner.

No Recall yet on RS for oil or steering issues yet then.https://mk3focusrs.club/high-speed-steering-issues/

Autoexpress drag video , Focus RS mk3 manual with launch control v Golf R manual not sure of rubber on each. Focus on 19" R on 18" alloys.

Perhaps another mag will do a drag comparison with a R mk7 with DSG (launch control)
