  • I have sent an email to Which about this see if they can add some clout. Might be worth trying whatcar as well as it is their car of the year and all that.

  • You know what... You're right Ollie. The Fabia is a fantastic car nevertheless and I'm going to put this aggression/frustration aside and look forward to it! My car is being built as we speak! Yes I'

Thanks for those links

But there is still one VERY BIG problem so far as I am concerned

To get information you need the VIN Number.

Which is fine if you already have a Fabia but as useful as a chocolate fire guard if you are looking to order.

Skoda need to be upfront with which phones are compatible before ordering NOT after purchase

the problem with smartgate and mirror link is they are great toys if they work, and great for getting marks / comments for added tech toys from journalists

but with the compatibility issues and lack of certified apps with mirror link how much use is it?

and smartgate how many people still use it after the novelty has worn off

I've used smart gate to show it is an app that works with mirrorlink. That's it.

Mirrorlink is over.

Had a call from customer services and as of 7/4/2015 VW group have pulled out of mirrorlink.

There will not be any future updates.

The only way for more apps or features to work will be aftermarket.

I'd like to let you know more but unfortunately its a waste of time.

I hope there is code available to be put into apps that bypasses the security (I expect this is all dependent on mirrorlink themselves releasing the code to suitable app makers)

What's the point of fitting it then, I hope they improve the ICE in any future models, it will be obsolete before they leave the production line.

I bet they don't stop production. All stocked head units will be fitted. There will be so many complaints!

Its a good radio without mirrorlink.

Just need some support to allow app makers to make use of it.

Hopefully mirrorlink themselves can do it

that leaves smartgate?

will that stay or go as well?

This is fascinating! Is there an official article for this?

I can't even work out to sync my phone... Not much of a tech head.... Is it simple? Like myself! :)

And there was me looking forward to seeing how Mirrorlink developed over the next few years. Now I find that the ICE in my two week old car is partially obsolete.

So this means when I get my new car in a few weeks, the display is going to be useless to me  :swear:

It's still a very good touchscreen unit with Bluetooth, USB, SD Card etc. Satnav would've been nice though and Mirrorlink was supposed to provide that.

Is it true that there's a sd card slot in the glove compartment? If so... Is it full sized sd or mini one?

Full sized SD. Full Bluetooth music streaming. (Both with virtual subwoofer and surround)

DAB radio.

Bluetooth phone with text message support.

Full touchscreen.

However mirrorlink is only partially working.

I plan to raise matters with VW and technical support for Skoda to make sure mirrorlink compatible apps work (release the code to allow use while driving and get mirrorlink to authorise for safety)

OR

Find out if compensation (possibly equivalent to 3 years cost of the Sygic navigation)

OR

If radios are to be replaced with sat nav function I'd like one fitted to my car.

Doesn't seem fair for clients to spend on mobile phones to be compatible with the car, to find future features that were promised are not going to be useable

Just updated to lollipop on the Note 4, makes no difference, no apps work, bought Sygic so feel i've been stung because the dealership informed me at time of ordering because my phone was mirrorlink certified it would work.

I've also found out that all new Samsung Galaxy phones with Mirrorlink won't work either, tried an S6 and S6 edge both failed to connect.

So support for mirrorlink has now been dropped, phones don't work, nice one Skoda, sucks to be an early adopter!

Just got this reply from the Skoda UK facebook page, when I asked about them discontinuing mirrorlink support.

ŠKODA UK Hi Les. Apologies for the delay in a response. Unfortunately ŠKODA UK cannot confirm information like this until it is officially released.

We've had no official word on this being discontinued but if we get any information about it, we will confirm at the earliest opportunity, and make sure all ŠKODA UK staff are aware of this in order to inform customers.
