Debut on 17 February?

Featured Replies

True, but one could outweigh the other ending up with a similar time. Not saying the Cupra wouldn't be generally quicker, but the 4x4 will be especially helpful off the line. That's quite a lot of power to put down for the 2wd Leon! Could be geared differently too.

Maybe, although a car like the Cupra has an LSD and weight advantage.

I'd say a Superb might be strong to 60, however after that point, it's weight would let it down.

Having said that though, it'll be a cracking car.

My mk3 VRS with 330bhp is to coin a phrase 'Superb', I think with the mk3 Superb with 4x4, 280bhp and DSG with roughly 40mpg and space that would embarrase an S Class will be one of those all you'll ever need cars.

Fancy a look at the Estate? Just a photoshop from the internet but yum, that sure looks tasty.

There's just too much metal between the rear lights and the glass (on this rendering) making it look a bit heavy there. I hope the real deal has the glass going a bit lower or curve down towards the number plate.

Something like this:

Oh I think that's worse - when I look at that I am seeing something like a cross between the Spaceback and an old Fiat Stilo estate!!  At least the first picture looks more like an Audi.  They do need to get the combi right as its a key seller

Render has hints of BMW X1 and 5 series estates!

I put these up earlier in another thread - for me I don't like the inbound lights but this is just a render.

Mmm... moon white and Phoenix wheels. They appear to have stuck something on the rear window, that I didn't spot on the launch pics.

That "something" on the rear window looks very incongruous there...  regardless of how useful it might be in the real world.

We've been playing with the visualizer. We agreed we can't have another silver car, so I've gone for Metal Grey with Phoenix Anthracite wheels. SWMBO prefers Lava Blue.

Business Grey? What an inspiring name.

I'm afraid SWMBO has the right idea. Call it what you like, but grey is grey. 50 shades of grey may be exciting, but the colour grey definitely isn't.

Looking at the visualiser, and all the greys were just plain boring. Lava Blue suits the car pretty well. Best colour though was Pacific Blue. Couldn't believe how good that looked.

Flat Pacific Blue? hmm

Do you know I'm really disappointed that Rallye Green is not available, would look awesome

Those colours give the car some perspective compared to the safer colours they tend to use in the launches.  The blue and metal grey looked tempting

I was influenced by the pics of the Metal Grey Superb II here:

There's also plenty of love for Metal Grey in the Octavia III forum

Just because it has no twinkly bits, doesn't make it flat.

I have an Octy in Pacific Blue. Suits the shape of the Skoda's perfectly. Especially now they have that extra premium look.

Don't listen to them. They drive grey Octys

Red does look very good yes. Still, you had it right with the Pacific Blue on top!!!

Now who mentioned the blue with Ivory interior. Oh boy, now that's a car. Just need wooden effect dash inserts next.

Anyone else noticed that gorgeous device on the rear window. I nearly had an orgasm over it   :D

Yes I'm a huge fan of the wooden effect dash inserts.  I even specified them over the piano black on my L&K.  Hopefully they will be available next time.

If not, just get a Jag :D

Hello Gents,

Some nice discussion in this thread!

I had the good fortune of being at the launch, and took a ton of detailed pictures of the car. I shall share my report soon.

Regarding the inductive charging mat in the car -- i think i might have seen a mention of it pre-launch, but none of the official documentation returned a match for the word "charge"! It does mention the inductive antenna for improved cell-phone signal though.

Can anyone tell me what this box is on the left? I tried briefly to open it, but no luck. It also seemed fixed in place.

It´s definitely a black box, not The Black box...just kidding

However, a ton of pictures? And you didn´t share yet? At least the most important pics details? We want some more    !

My guess is subwoofer! I've seen a video of it, will send the link when I find the video.

I'm just putting the finishing touches on my report. Will share the link in the next 24-48 hrs when it goes live. :)

If you're in a hurry to see something specific, let me know...

Ah! That sounds right.

They did say the top end Superb has a 12-speaker 610 watt Canton system. Googling the same leads to a similar positioned box : https://www.google.co.in/search?q=skoda+canton+subwoofer&safe=off&espv=2&biw=1111&bih=791&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=tUrzVPijGdLIuASQ8IAQ&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg

If you have a link of the Superb III in particular, that would be great.

Cheers,

R
