@pee81 I wouldn't have thought it, without seeing the before and after pictures, but that stripe is a nice addition to the car.

Thanks freelunch I just need to do the other side now

Of course i had to give the Abarth a clean this weekend and decided to fit my new graphics (just to make it stand out a bit)

Apologies for bumping my own post, but I just wanted to add a word about Bilt Hamber Double-Speed Wax. I was remarking two weeks ago how glassy the paint surface felt after applying the DSW. Today, I washed it for the first time since waxing it. I used AutoGlym shampoo and could see how easily the dirt was shifting. I gave it another wash down with clean water, then used a watering can (I park on the street) to give a final rinse: it was amazing to see how the water sheeted off the car, almost like it was being repelled.

The car looks as good as it did after waxing it two weeks ago. I will be curious to see how long before I feel it needs another coat. Nice product.

So I've got the new wagon to the best it can possibly be without using a machine polisher.

Managed to secure some time now to push on and get this done soon. Estimated around 2/3 days work & can't wait to get started!

Thanks buddy! It'll look a lot better once cut & refined. Paint pen on order from Skoda to touch is those issues we looked at too.

She does go well. Enjoying every minute driving it too!

Gave my Monte estate a good clean at the weekend, and got the opportunity to try one of the (too) many waxes I've bought recently!

Wheels got a hit of Valet Pro Bilberry wheel cleaner, with Britemax Grimeout used on tyres and arches. Various brushes and the Dooka wheel mitt were used along with some Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss in the wheel bucket to give them a proper good clean. Decontaminated with Carpro TarX and IronX, then finished off with Autobrite Cherry Glaze and a coat of Collinite 845 (love this combo on my gloss back wheels!). Tyres got a coat of Meguiar's Endurance Tyre Gel.

Rest of the car got thoroughly pressure washed, then got a coat of Bilt Hamber Autofoam which was left to dwell for 10-15 mins while I went round the hard-to-reach areas with Meguiars APC and a detailing brush. Then a 2BM wash with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss (first time I had use this shampoo, really impressed with it, smells good and gave plenty of suds and lubricity!) and the Gtechniq wash mitt, then decontaminated with TarX and IronX, and clayed with the G3 clay mitt. Went over the car with Autobrite Cherry Glaze, then finally a coat of Wax Planet Red October (really impressed with the finish this gave, really easy to use, just did the whole car then buffed off, and hardly used any out of the pot so it seems to go a long way!).

Really pleased with how the car ended up. Got plenty more waxes to try out, and hope to do so very soon!

Looking good mate! Just out of curiosity, what brakes did you opt for? I'm looking at changing mine soon but unsure on cost & what make to go for?

Cheers buddy

@KarlvRS1991

I was checking everywhere for the brake discs n pads (ECP, GSF) etc...

In the end I settled for original Skoda (VW) brake discs n pads as they actually worked out cheaper but you need to buy them from Rainworth Skoda.

Briskoda parts section was the best price I got quoted for OEM discs & pads compared to other suppliers of OEM discs n pads etc...& even better than TPS.

GSF, ECP are quoting & supplying non OEM setup & with the 25% or 30% checkout codes they didn't work out any better than the OEM setup price, because you have to add the pads separately to the discs order & the discs on GSF, ECP are sold separately & not in pairs.

I managed to get the front brake discs & pads brand new from Rainworth Skoda in Nottinghamshire (OEM) inc vat & delivery for £229.98.

Special offer on the front brake discs (340mm) at the moment £147.99 reduced from £237.05 & the brake pads are an extra £81.99

Ask for Dan in parts department 01623 623 400

I purchased by phoning them directly, delivery should be with me for Monday morning. Happy days. B)

Here are the rear discs only:

But you will need to get a price for the rear pads

Hey everyone. A work colleague asked me to have a go at his 6 year old, 107k miles 5 series for him.

IMG_20170329_073311_zpsfwjh7hya.jpg

So I got her clean with the usual Powermaxed TFR prewash, two bucket wash, de-tarred, fallout removed and clayed to see what we were working with. It was pretty swirly! So I opted for a green CG Hexlogic pad via Rotary and Sonax Perfect Finish.

IMG_20170329_095007_zpsczdvlekk.jpg

Much better! So I set around the rest of the car. Gave her a wipedown with Angelwax Stripped-ease then Ti-22, and finally a layer of Angelwax Fifth Element. Wheels were cleaned with KKD Brake away and tyres treated with Megs Endurance Tyre Gel.

Here's a fairly deep scratch which were abundant on the car.

Not gone, but 100% better!

And on to the finished shots!

Angelwax Heaven for Leather doing its thing here. Pretty grim in the bucket afterwards.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone!

Yes mate, 7 hours was on the quick side. Sonax PF finishes down so quickly. It's a real belter for a big car when you only have one day. I couldn't live without it from a polishing perspective!

As the sun was out this morning I treated the car to a wash and a quick wax.

Pre washed with demon snow foam then rinsed off and washed, using two buckets, with Auto Glym shampoo and a lambswool mitt and dryed with a plush micro fibre towel then given a quick going over with Simoniz quick detailer...

Tried a new wheel cleaner before washing the rest of the car, Wonder Wheels colour changing formulae, waste of £6 as its still not shifting the brake dust ... Looks like I'll need to go online and order something as nobody local sells anything decent...
